Ok So I was reading posts and getting madder and madder.

I was like some fair weathered friends you folks are. My first thought when I heard about the drug thing was. NO WAY was he doing X. Pot...ok...yea I can see that but X?

Shame on those of you who jumped to conclusions.

Shame on the media for being...well for being the media.

Shame on my friend Nadine for DOUBTING THE TRUTH.

Walk off I you want to , but I don't know what you were reading, however I didn't see anyone jumping to conclusions....in fact, most everyone said that there has to be another side of the story and were waiting on the full story. (Which came out in a timely manner.)

Everyone here is a fan of Jimmy's....we all aren't worshippers of him and understand mistakes and stupidity happen....just thankfully it was the stupidity of a Customs agent, and not his.

You didn't read Jimmy's press release fully did you? Why build walls between cultures based on the Customs Agents of one (Especially when the Customs Agents of the other can be just as stupid.)

I think Christine (maybe I'm putting words in her mouth) meant that it was just a stupid mistake on behalf of the french...I didn't read her comment as being political in nature at all.
I THINK we need to take this thread and put it to bed.....Its done...its over...Jimmy's innocent...we all still love him...LETS RESPECT THAT...expecially since this thread seems to have hints of turning political...

I enjoy politics as much as anybody, but I'm with you... time to put this one to bed. No need for a culture war here... breathe in, breathe out, (time to) move on. 8)

Hey Mods... You've got my vote to lock this thing.

Christ! I can't believe that nearly a week after Jimmy issued his statement on M'ville.com, this music critic is still quoting the misleading news story as if it were fact!

http://www.richmond.com/music/output.as ... position=5

"Lastly, Parrotheads everywhere can rejoice in the release of "Take the Weather with You" by Jimmy Buffett. Like him or hate him, Buffett has carved out a unique niche in the music business, and over the last year he's raised a tremendous amount of money for Hurricane Katrina relief. However, it's unknown how the recent seizure of 100 Ecstacy tabs from Buffett's private plane by French authorities will affect the public's perception of him. Personally I just can't see Mr. Buffett as part of the glow sticks crowd, but I suppose the truth will come out in time."

It's great how news sources pass along information that isn't entirely accurate. A local radio station was bad mouthing Jimmy the other day. I sent everyone that had an email address on their website a link to Jimmy's statement. I was also nice enough to include the content from the article incase they were too lazy to click the link, much like they are too lazy to get all the facts before passing along half-assed news reports. As of right now I haven't heard back from anyone over there, so we'll see.

I read the "reports" and then Jimmy's statement. My gut told me right from the get go that something didn't seem right - a 60-year-old dude and X? Maybe some old fat guy in Tulsa trying to pick up high school chicks, but it just didn't add up for Jimmy. Then after I read his statement, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I know the pro football and baseball players always go right for the "vitamin supplement" route when caught with something illegal, but none of them are 60. It would have been more embarrassing if they said he was traveling with bran and had a kleenex box in the back window of the jet.
