i wanted to pass this on just in case no one knew. if this was already mentioned, please disregard.
last night at my local ph club meeting i found out that several members had been bumped out of casa marina for motm. this group had made their arrangments back in april. they had said that others had this happen to them also. the hotel is going through extensive renovations that were suppose to done by now.
here's the poop. when the hotel's reservation dept. was contacted to confirm the rooms, they said everything was ok. turns out the dept. was located out of state somewhere. she then called the front desk of the hotel to ask and was put on hold for a long time. in the end, they were informed that they would be staying at the best western at the entrance to the island. not too close by, by any means.
so please call the actual hotel and find out for yourselves. even though i can't be there ( gosh i sooo wish i was), i hate to hear that a bner got down there and then found this out.
just look'in out for your good time!!

We got a call a few days ago that we were bumped from the Casa. We booked our room last November.

If anyone needs a room (posted this here instead of getting lost in the other thread) ...
I have four rooms at the La Concha on Duval. I will be cancelling at least one, possibly two (our friends are all air force and can't plan ahead, thus can't do the official MOTM thing and thus just come to party if they can).
Wednesday-thursday $130, Friday-Saturday 180, Sunday 130. I think they're all non-smoking kings.

The way the Casa handled this is unacceptable, we made our reservations 11 months ago , on 11-14-05 . They waited until Oct.2 ,2006 @5.00 pm. & basically informed us our reservations were CANCELED ,& tough luck . Last year with hurricane Wilma, it was truly out of their control . That was understandable. Now they are trying to blame their contractors. Being involved in the construction industry for many years , I know the hotel sets the schedule , the number of rooms to be out of service at a time , and all deadlines . Maybe M.O.T.M should consider a change of venue . Perhaps a hotel in Vegas , i.e. Flamingo, M.G.M , where the whole group can stay in one hotel .

While I agree the Casa has really screwed people, I wouldn't want to move MOTM from KW. It's unique in that there are SO many other things to do and so much music to experience outside the actual convention.
