Wow! Thanks, Gingerbreadman and Conched, and of course and always, Jim. I didn't get to listen to the interview. Thanks so much for the transcript!

Holy cow, that seemed like a lot of work! :o

Just wanted to let you know it's greatly appreciated! :D :D

So far, but yet, so near
Where I see the day
When my hair's full gray
and I finally...disappear. BUT NOT YET!!

Thanks, GBM and conched! We've got a mini-roadtrip this week, I'm planning on reading the transcript to Mrs. Chip while we're playing the cd. She's a parrothead, but not to the extent most BNers are. I won't be satisfied till she spends her evenings surfing the web for cheap airfare

It's great to have this in black and white. Thanks to you both. I was just reading it, got to the end, and realized that they didn't even mention Here We Are. What's wrong with this po' lil' chile that we keep it in the back when company comes over? :)

This whole "hidden track" thing is a little creepy, imho. 8) Maybe it actually works as a marketing tool and there is some kind of word of mouth thing that happens down the road. JB doesn't often make mistakes when it comes to marketing decisions.

Maybe it was meant to be some secret thing between JB and the die-hard parrotheads, but I'd much rather it was less secret!

And you're right, JB rarely (never?) makes marketing errors....

I'll tell ya...BG just posted something about Tennessee Three and I actually remember Jimmy talking about that after typing this up!

So many things I didn't "absorb" by just listening.

I agree...this song/video was for Parrotheads, it's been played at concerts all season, and; ...it's not the first "hidden track" on a Buffett CD

IMHO, there was no mistake....even with the pictures/song, a concert phlocking is hard to describe if you haven't been a part of it. :pirate:

I think what tripped up the process was computer/movie formatting.

In the past, you popped in an enhanced CD and *presto* it opened and played. I'm not enough of a geek (and I use that term in the *best* possible light) to know why, but the most recent operating systems don't want to deal with the enhanced CD automatically. You have to really hunt for a way to get the thing to play.

Under the old operating systems, hidden videos were a great idea. Under the newer OS's hidden videos are a nightmare.... :-?

I don't think it was intentional on JB's/Mailboat's part that it be so difficult to get at this video. Thus what may have been a good idea has been sandbagged by technology, to the fans' detriment......

Oh thank heavens! I thought I was the only one who had to work at it to get it to play  I looked all over for it and tried several methods without success and figured I had a CD that didn't have it on there. It wasn' t mentioned on the CD notes so I thought maybe I managed to pick up a CD without it. Then last night when I put the CD in for some reason it came right up :o (My CD is haunted)

Hmmmm....must just be a variation in computers.

It popped right up in my computer, no hunting.

Perhaps it has something to do with the version of Macromedia/Quicktime or even a particular Operating System age/configuration of different computers out there. Image

However, I do wish it would play in a standard DVD player.

Yep, I think that's it exactly. If I hadn't known it was there, I would never have noticed it on my MacBook. Even then, it was hard to get to. If I hadn't known I was looking for a .mov file that would play on quicktime, I would have been out of luck.....

Yeah, that's really too bad, during the interview there was no mention of Here We Are at all. If they had mentioned it, I think we would have had a race to see who could get that intro typed in first.

And thanks Jim, for turning the thread into its own page. It IS that important!

Seeing how the focus of this topic has ever so slightly wavered...

So I'll just say, Thanks backbeat! There's lots more good ones where those came from. 8)
