Vegas 28th show Questions from a newbie
This is our first Jimmy concert. Been trying for two years and always missed the show. So the big question is for just us two is it a better idea to tailgate in the parking lot or will there be a group gathering pre party at one of the casinos????

Please don't feel dumb. That was not my intention and I would feel awful if I made you feel that way.vegas_fruitcakes wrote:feeling pretty dumb>>>no parking lot<<<<< I will not forget that again.

Rest assured. There is really no parking lot, but there is a huge Street Party with a band playing all afternoon in the street outside Margaritaville.vegas_fruitcakes wrote:feeling pretty dumb>>>no parking lot<<<<< I will not forget that again.
LOL
There will be many, many folks hanging out at Margaritaville and all up and down the street between MGM and Flamingo and Hooters on the 28th.
Drinks are flowing out in the street for the big party. The Margaritaville Shrimp Bus was there last year. There were contests and audience participation and the band keeps things going all afternoon.
Stay flexible!! It will be lots of fun.
You don't want to drive much in VEGAS as the whole strip looks like at parking lot at times!!

Hey VF! Pulled this from that other thread.
The Margaritaville Street Party is "official" for the 28th (and the 21st as well)- I'm guessing from 11am-6pm... I'm pretty sure Tommy Rocker and his band will prevail as usual.
The ever-neurotic, hand-wringing MGM management team has yet to announce the Pool Party...but it WILL happen (as sure as there's booze in the blender).. from 3-7 most likely. This time I hope they please serve FOOD around the pool- last year was the first year they didn't and a lot of people were not doing well ...Alcohol + no food= not good!
There's all kinds of activity at Hooters on the 28th as well (pre and post concert)..mostly via the Tropo Travel group who books Parrothead travel gigs... Stars on the Water will prevail there... should be good! Check out that above link to the thread.
Friday (Oct 27) is looking open. We'd usually be at Tommy Rockers for Last Man Standing (which will be on Oct.20 instead) But options abound- it's Vegas Baaabbbyy! We may just end up at Tommy Rockers anyway... good things seem happen at that place!

Thanks for the info
We've lived in vegas for years but were long-distance car haulers so we were NEVER home. We always avoid the strip so I am looking forward to going down there this time. Thanks a bunch I guess we will just run around and act like kids in our hula skirts I am sure we will find all kinds of stuff to get into.

Re: Well you would think that I would know these things....
actually there is a parking lot across from the mgm grand. it might be between hooters and the tropicana. a few years ago, a couple of guys in an rv set up there for the day. i don't know if they attracted much of a following, as at the time, the mgm was the place to be to party all day. now there are several venues to see and be seen.coolblueswing wrote:Please don't feel dumb. Friday Night (27th) there is a preparty at the Hooters hotel with Stars on the Water and an undisclosed guest (Band?)...vegas_fruitcakes wrote:This is our first Jimmy concert. Saturday there is the Street party in the alley next to Margaritaville...good place to start....then there is (supposedly) the MGM pool party....a good place to hang out prior to the show....there is also a preparty at Hooters as well....(Decisions, Decisions) after the show ther is a post party at Hooters....And there is always just hangin' out in Margaritaville.....
What ever you choose....remember to wear your grass skirt and cococnut bra. Bring Mardi Gras beads and cheap leis to give out to your fellow parrotheads (guarranties that you will be a party god or Goddess)....remember to bring beach balls and an inflatible shark or 2 for the concert itself.....

Yup, there's the rundown on most of the organized phun. Obviously, since you know vegas, you know that it will be a full-on party everywhere! Look for me on the balcony at Margaritaville, with the grass skirt and parrot hat, and a bunch of bootleg cd's on a lanyard around my neck to give away!

Last couple years i was the only one dangling cd's, plus a big ole water bottle with attached straw, which proved to be a little too good of an idea...
Oh!!!!! You'll be the hammered one......that narrows it down.....NOT!!!!
