Can't 'Take the Weather' in Canada
Visits to large retailers of all things audio and electric in the Toronto area (Best Buy, Wal-Mart, HMV...) posted a shutout in attempts to buy Jimmy's new CD on the weekend.
According to the clerks and their database, TTWWY is an import. Can be ordered in the stores or on-line. "Will take 2-8 weeks."
Clerk at HMV said it could be domesticated quicker than that and suggested I wait a couple of weeks.
I could drive south of the border, but some of our border pals are still freezing up in Buffalo stuck in their cars without electricity following last week's blizzard. And there's always the matter of disorder.
I could put my money down on the new Shakira offering...
Sorry, other Jimmy, but you don't have my $20(CDN), yet.
What would Buffett do?

Do you have the option of downloading it on iTunes? I'm not sure how iTunes works in Canuckia.
If it were me, I'd probably order it online. One of the big ones has to ship to Canada... Amazon, Barnes & Noble, WalMart, Best Buy, buy.com....

I've been listening to the album on CMT, waiting for it to turn up on the shelves here.
You can order it through amazon.ca, by the way, but I just find it ridiculous that I could buy License to Chill and Far Side of the World the day they were released but not Take the Weather With You.
What gives? Are sales of Jimmy's albums in Canada so abysmal that he can't even get a distribution deal here?

I ordered a factory sealed copy on eBay for US $9.99 + $4.49 S&H, cheaper and probably quicker than Amazon. Still can't figure out why it hasn't been released here, though

Thanks for the suggestions, Parrot-headed friends.
I like the road trip idea best. Wonder if you can buy TTWWY on Tortola, Jimmy?
Ottawa-based mysmusic.com advertises TTWY for $18.99 CDN, but the fine print reads: "Be aware, however, that there's a good chance that we will be unable to get this item."
Dude with Amazon/HMV said "up to 8 weeks."
It makes it feel like I'm ordering something illegal, like fireworks or Cuban cigars - wait, they're legal here.
I could download it, but I'm old school. I want the liner info and the photos.
Maybe if I dropped by Other Jimmy's place, he'd have a spare copy to sell me?
Meanwhile, this Shakira CD is looking better every hour.

My first purchase with them and I will let you know how it goes. I know many here will bad mouth them but $14.99 for the CD and $5 for S&H.
Ordered Monday, They sent me an email they shipped on Tuesday. We shall see when it arrives in Canada.
HMV in Canada said they would get it in 2-3 months.

We really don't badmouth them, we just 'poke fun'. They have a tendency to work with the amazing speed of the three-toed sloth. Maybe not the online store, but with releasing stuff they've said they'll release.Left Field ParrotHead wrote:www.mailboatrecords.com

MP3 downloads have been coming "in the next few weeks" for months now.

The Shakira one is pretty good. However, I will have to say that the new Fergie CD is a little better.Another Jimmy wrote:I could put my money down on the new Shakira offering...

Too bad I have to wait an additional two weeks to meet up with my copy in WPB.

Another Jimmy...
Take the road trip... I thought, I need the new album but I need to get this one where the weather suits my clothes... So... on Oct. 15th, I got in my car...
I started in the tropics of Canada (Niagara, further south than Northern California!) and I ended up in Cleveland!
Well Cleveland is just as cold, as Canada so this Canadian needed to hop on a plane. Well that plane, touched down in Miami florida... From Freezen up in buffalo to that hot florida heat!
Perfect... but still no weather cd purchased... That had to wait till the next afternoon, when I strolled in that little store on duval street, and paid 18.99! Two bucks more from Jimmy's store than walmart. (for the record, wal mart in southern ontario had weather the day it was released).
Then, I took that new cd right next door to the little margaritaville cafe and ordered me 2 margarita's... My first cd purchased two blocks from where it was recorded!
The pilgrimage was worth it!!!! Head south till the butter melts!
