Buffett in Vanity Fair Magazine

Post by phjim »

From the Philadelphia Daily News
<em>
It's official. Jimmy Buffett is a country singer. So proclaims the latest issue of Vanity Fair, which slots J.B. in a super-lavish country hipster photo spread. Yet the restless Buffett continues to mix and mangle North American and south-of-the-border styles his way, on the balmy, breezy "Take the Weather With You" (Mailboat/RCA, B). Standouts include "Cinco De Mayo in Memphis," "Elvis Presley Blues" and the marimba-flavored killa, "Party at the End of the World."</em>

I would think that loyal country stars wouldn't really appreciate JB's music being put soley into their category.... He's only labeled "Country" because people just don't know where to put him. Sure, JB has some country sounds, but his music certainly not limited to that genre..... At the end of the day, does it really matter which section of the music store you find his cds??

Precisely. And no, it doesn't. :D

uncategorizable

Post by Griz »

I noticed that when I uploaded TTWWY to iTunes and told it to "Get Album artwork" and "Get track names," it came back with everything okay but under Genre it said "Uncategorizable." :o

(Just tried it again and it now says "Rock." Go figure.)
And I can play this here guitar,,
Gonna thank my lucky stars.

Thank you stars!!

I created my own genre for iTunes...it says 'Parrothead'.

Some people never find it, some only pretend

Ladies' Home Journal and Vanity Fair both celebrate country music

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll ... TAINMENT06

http://www.vanityfair.com/magazine/pressroom

THE ADVENTURERS: Jimmy Buffett, Bob Seger, Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp, and Kid Rock. If you didn't already know, country is a state of mind. Crow, who keeps a house in Nashville, has incorporated into her career the music that produced the soundtrack for the rootsy rocker's road trip across the country and toward stardom decades ago. Buffett has made a career out of musical escapism after heading for Key West and starting a Parrothead craze that helped make the 2003 hit It's Five O'clock Somewhere a No. 1 country hit. Mellencamp's breakthrough album American Fool made him the heartland's soul, and founding Farm Aid with Willie Nelson and Neil Young more than 20 years ago also made him its hero. Seger's gritty, wistful voice has carried a four-decade career and landed him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After beginning his career somewhere between rap and rock, Kid Rock now considers Nashville, along with his native Detroit, home. His guttural voice and down-home lyrics are pure Americana.

He mentioned the photo shoot on the radio yesterday, and said something about chickens running around, and scare of bird flu! :o I'm curious how it ended up!

The iTunes download has a seperate video from the CD - which kinda s**ks if you bought the CD - IMHO.

I haven't updated my IPOD yet, but it is loaded onto ITunes. Bought the CD the morning it was released, and it took until the next day for me to download it because when I tried the song titles weren't coming up and I didn't want to input them myself, but by the next day all was fine. I should be updating the IPOD in the next day or so, so I will see if there is a problem with that.

I didn't have any problems. Put it on iTunes the day after I bought it, updated my iPod after it was done importing and it plays fine on both my computer and my iPod.
