iPod volume help?!?

I have a few songs that play extremely quiet on my ipod as compared to all the other songs. Does anyone know of a way to change when downloading or even afterwards? Not a huge problem to adjust volume while im near it, but when docked it makes it a pain.

I noticed that with certian artist. If its John Haitt or Green Day for example the volume goes up. I think it may be the way it was recorded.
My kids have some stuff on my ipod and its always a little louder as well. Kinda funny eh?

It is the way it was recorded. Some programs have a "normalizer" which allows all songs to be done at the same basic volume level.
