this whole Hula Girl and Heather thing is a new idea, right?LIPH wrote:I'd like Hula Girl At Heart a lot better if it was in the setlist and Heather was still in the band.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:BIBOMO is my favorite, every day, hands down. Second favorite is Here We Are.
After that, it depends on my mood. WITW is next, most days. But Hula Girl At Heart and Nothin' But A Breeze are always right in there.... And Everbody's On The Phone is, too....
There's not a song I DON'T like on this album....
Jimmy's coolest song...ever?

Believe it or not I haven't got the cd yet but I'm getting it today. I really like Bama Breeze and hope the rest of the cd is at least close to it.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:yep. it looks almost like the picture above, but the particular one you're hearing has mother-of-pearl in place of the white plastic. Bama Breeze actually comes off weaker than some of the tracks, although it is a good solid song.ccmatt wrote:Believe it or not I haven't got the cd yet but I'm getting it today. it depends on the song.... it seems to 'fit' on this song, and I hardly even noticed he was talking vs singing until someone pointed it out..... I guess because I was concentrating on (as someone else put it) the incredible layering of the music.Spinniker wrote:Finally some else said it ...My biggest peeve about some of his songs...SMLCHNG wrote:Funny - it's the one song I don't really like all that much. I agree the beginning starts out like a Joe Jackson song who I don't like.SMLCHNG wrote:Funny - it's the one song I don't really like all that much. Love the lyrics, love when Jimmy SINGS - I can't stand when he 'talks' on a song.

HA HA that had me rolling! WITW isn't even a song, it's more like a bad poetry reading or like William Shatners album, maybe if he sang it, i dunno.12vmanRick wrote:Quiet and Shy wrote:My favorite song from TTWWY is still BIBOMO.
Jimmy called it "long and wierd"....
The pulsing banjo, dancing trumpet, Nadira's shimmering vocals, Sonny's swampy guitar, the double bass, piano, laid back verses and driving chorus.... You can feel the mystical voodoo in the sultry, steamy air, thick with those eternally restless souls...it's the echo of Mardi Gras.
Wheel Inside the Wheel...just WOW!!
Krewe of crossbones....? Hmmmm......
Wow and I actually liked you when I met you at MOTM last year.
Anyhow I thought the Pina Colada Song was jimmy's best?

The talking on WITW does not bother me so much.
I really like the song now.
It's not the same kind of talking that's found on Fruitcakes, LTC or other songs. It's more serious than corny.
I need to brush up on my Nawlins history though because I don't know the people mentioned in it.

I definitely like some songs on it more than others, but DEFINITELY "Wheel Inside the Wheel" is the one I keep going back to on a regular basis. Something about the lyrics is mystical, and the rhythm "gets" me "there" ya know? The lyric that really hooked me was the "souls ain't born/souls don't die/souls ain't made of water/ain't made of Earth/ain't made of sky" (quoting from memory...don't flog me too much if I'm a bit "off"
)
