Besides, unless one of us is Jimmy or Fingers (or maybe Mac, Mike Utley, or one of the Mayers), posting under an alias, you're not going to get an accurate answer anyway....

Just to clarify, I didn't say I didn't like the harp player....Just that I'm not particularly fond of the harmonica and later mentioned that I enjoy the saxaphones. Everyone has their own favorites...no one is wrong...we're just all different. But I do think it is wrong to be cursing Jimmy out for decisions he has made regarding his band.... I think we all need to chill out and just enjoy what Jimmy brings to us!bumper wrote:Nutmeg did not really answer the question but offered up her dislike for the harp player.![]()
Conched did though.
Who knows, guess I should have asked Fingers when I shook his hand after the show, just didn't cross my mind.

getting back to the message at hand.........
I saw Fingers on stage with Jimmy & the band Saturday night-and this also won't win me any points with the powers that be around here, but honestly, I can take him or leave him. I knew I'd enjoy the concert either way, and I did. It WAS nice seeing him again after six years, but I still would've enjoyed the concert had he NOT shown up.
That's my .02 cents worth, and I'm sticking to it.

I love the sound of Fingers on some of the songs too. It's great to see him back as part of the tour. I think it's great that (maybe) differences have been set aside for the sake of the music.
I say "maybe" because we'll never know the "real story" behind Fingers taking a different path.
Let the music play!

Fingers is not a full time member of the band..
it takes something called practice to have a band as tight
as the CRs.. Fingers, due to his own schedule may not
have time to practice all the songs on the setlist..
also He may just want to be a part time player..

As my daddy always says, "Opinions are just like a$$holes, everybody has one." Well, here's mine (opinion that is.) I think just about any Buffett song sounds better with Finger's harp in it. I probably feel that way because I've been listening to Buffett since the 70's and that's the sound I feel in love with. However, I've also enjoyed when Jimmy has changed things up with different musicians. I would love if Finger's came back full time but I doubt that will happen. What would really, really be cool would be if Buffett repeated the Hot Dog and a Road Map Tour where it was him, Fingers and a bass player (I think.) That would be great!
Love in the library, quiet and cool.

I would comment to Crawfish, but I left second grade a little while ago.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

crawfish wrote:Why is Fingers, not playing the whole show instead of 3 or 4 songs?
Kinda lame to me when 90% of the songs Jimmy does in concert had Fing on orig recordings. Whats up with this?
Here's my 2 cents: I went to Last Man Standing last Friday to see Fingers Taylor. I knew he'd be playing with a couple of bands that I presume he's never been a full-time member of. So I didn't expect that he'd play the whole night with either band, which he didn't.ragtopW wrote:Fingers is not a full time member of the band..crawfish wrote:I ASK ABOUT FINGERS!

A friend of mine and I sat with Fingers a bit, inside, while the other bands played without him. From the conversations and attitude, I could tell that he was just fine being inside, talking with fans, while the band played songs that I know he could have contributed to.
I then saw him again at the Hooters post-concert show, playing again with Stars on the Water, along with some others. The guys in Stars had to ask, via microphone where Fingers was, and if he could join them as soon as he was ready. I presume they had someone looking for him, but that wasn't working, so they had to announce to the world that they were looking forward to him joining them onstage.
I, of course, don't know the whole story, but it seems pretty apparent to me that Fingers is fine doing some of his own shows, playing what he wants to play. And then joining almost any other group for a few songs, whether they be Jimmy's songs or not.
Fingers is a great player, and obviously has interest in other forms of music, other than Jimmy's stuff. He'd be stupid not to, as he is a harmonica player, and they're not known exclusively for playing Jimmy's style.
Fingers was cool to talk with, cool to see interact with the fans. He was even cool when some guy asked him straight up what happened between he and Jimmy. (that same guy then asked him about the war in Iraq...I think he may have just been trying to rub him the wrong way). BTW - Fingers didn't answer either of those questions.
Fingers did a great job at LMS, where he was in control of his own sound. I hope he knows that when performing with Jimmy and the CRB that the crowd can't always hear him as much as he may think....or so it was at the MGM in Vegas on 10/21.
