When I saw Bruce Springsteen in Shea Stadium 3 years ago, he brought Dylan out to do one song just before the encore. I have no clue what he sang.

Did you really put Pink Floyd in the same category as Madonna, Britney Spears, the Simpsons and American Idol winners? Maybe you should give them another listen.

I agree. To see people say The Dead is overrated seems to me to be the same as saying Buffett is overrated. They both promoted a lifestyle and ended up creating a culture. Whether you "get it" or not, you have to realize there is something magical there that not all artists have.

I agree with a lot of y'all.

Bruce Springsteen
Bob Dylan
Tupac (a few slugs to the chest don't make you the best)
Notorious B.I.G. (see above)
U2
Dave Mathews
Greatful Dead
Michael Bolton
Tim McGraw

You'll notice I put Pink Floyd at the TOP of that list.
I honestly don't think they're BAD in the way I think those others I listed are bad-just a little out of my league is all.

And I'd like to add a couple more to my bad/over-rated list:
U2
Bono

yes, I said BONO
and I meant it

a little heresy

Feels like time to commit a little heresy...

Over-rated...

1. Rolling Stones - everything sounds alike.

2. Elvis Presley - good grief. Young Elvis, Fat Elvis... who cares? He "oversang" everything.

3. Brian Wilson (His SMILE album feels like he was trying WAY too hard to be smart. Loved him with the Beach Boys, though. 8) )

4. U2. Songs are all pretty much... forgettable. I'm sure Bono is a nice guy, but...

OK, I'll take the bait...

All those Rock and Roll Hall of Fame accolades for EACH of those selections, too...
they must be out of their cotton-pickin' minds, huh?!

I'm sure you're a loyal fan of Jimmy, but I'm really curious what or who ELSE could pass your taste test :-?

I agree. They are GREAT live....

Overrated to me:

U2- I like some of their stuff but find alot of the old stuff annoying to listen to. I don't think they're awful but not the Rock gods most think they are.

Beastie boys- I liked Licence to Ill and then they lost me. A few of the songs since then are good but msot I don't care for. Also, I saw them live once and they were awful. I've heard form others that they are good live but they were not when i saw them...

Geroge strait- I like only a few songs but most of the stuff I find boring. I saw the George Strait Country Music festival a few years ago and of the last few acts ( among Martina McBride, Chesney, Tim McGraw, Lee ann Womack, Mark Chestnutt) I found his time on stage the least exciting and entertaining.

are you smoking crack?

he sounds just as good live as he does on an album. you dont go see george for a production. you go to see just him and his band playing his song... a lot like willie

and will you be able to say you look that good in a pair of jeans when you are his age?

i wasn't looking for fireworks and a light show when i saw him I just found it a little boring. I actually prefer shows with no frills just didn't think he was that good when i saw him. I thought we were talking about being overrated in musical talent and didn't know how they looked in jeans or other apparel entered into it. If so then Jessica Simpson is the least overrated singer today....

Thw Who really rocked, still rock ... and they're not quitting yet! :D

Here's my over-rated:

Michael Jackson (a video-trailblazer, but best work was w/Jackson 5)
Black-Eyed Peas (would we even notice 'em if Fergie wasn't shakin' it?)
Justin Timberlake (white-boy Prince with no vocal talent)

and ALL these teen & pre-teen lolitas who photograph nice, get record deals with hit factory writers from Sweden, and proceed to burn out like soggy bonfires
(hello Lindsay, Hillary, Ashlee, JoJo and Hoo-Ha and what'shername)

They should all look up a star-girl from the '60's named Tiffany
