How about the bands/artists you think are under-rated.

PLEASE, though... let's not get too esoteric here - we've all got that special "can't believe they're not famous" unheard of band...

But, for the sake of conversation, let's stick to ones everyone's probably heard of.

Here goes...

Under-rated:

1. Creedence Clearwater Revival - good gritty stuff.

2. REO Speedwagon - yes, lots of ballads, but in concert they could rock.

3. Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms is as good as anything out there and Mark Knopfler is one of the best.

4. Alabama - did they every do a song that didn't go to #1?

We saw REO last summer, they can still rock!
Got to visit with Kevin Cronin over a cup of coffee out in front of the Flamingo in Laughlin for a minute....it was pretty cool for an 80's rocker chick.

I think Firefall is a very under-rated band.....great song writers...awesome lyrics...just good stuff.

Very cool. A guy I used to work with is cousins with REO's original lead guitarist. Always spoke well of Cronin.

BTW... I bought an REO Live CD a while back - recorded sometime in the last few years, and it seemed like Cronin's voice had... changed... did he have some kind of throat problem, or was it just that album, or???

(Also BTW... I love 80's rocker chicks. )

I don't know....he's had a lot of "struggles" chemical and otherwise, so could be....I was sitting out on a bench waiting for my husband...we were at the Laughlin Motorcycle Rally....he sat down waiting for them to bring his car around....asked if I saw the show, we talked about that....I told him I was a big fan back in the Hi-Infidelity days and that Tuna Piano still got a lot of play....he said thanks wished us a safe ride home and drove off in his Range Rover...I guess old 80's rockers drive themselves! He was very nice, though.

We met Dee Snider from Twisted Sister in Sturgis last summer, too....
he was just hanging out at the Broken Spoke.

that tour they did together... mid to late 80s.. that was a show.

Love Reo.......probably the band i've seen more in concert other than Buffett and The Beach Boys!!!.....Also someone asked if Cronins voice changed...didn't they have another singer for a brief moment on a couple of albums??


I think Styx was a little under-rated.....great in concert!!!

Fogerty is a genius. Neil Diamond was on the Today Show Friday concert earlier this year, he can't sing at all anymore. He talked all the lyrics. Sonny Landreth is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen, and I've seen Clapton and BB King. Little Feat is just a great band, but the woman singer they have now brings nothing to the table. Jake is an amazing musician.

Popa Chubby, a great blues guitarist
The Good Rats, one of the best bar bands I ever heard. I know it's not much but when I was in college they were the biggest band on LI.

Badfinger: On record they were great and from what I read they were a great live band. Very sad that they were ripped off by their manager and then Peter and Tom both committed suicide.
