Anesthesia question

I was wondering if your demeanor after coming off the drugs is an indication of what type of drunk your going to be???

That's a pretty interesting question. I've always been pretty cognizant & logical when coming out of anesthesia, but then I don't remember specific details later. Not too different from when I'm drunk
(Unless I'm
REALLY drunk...which doesn't happen much...you'd have to ask my dear sweet husband about those occasions.

)

I don't know but both times I have gone under, I loved it when I got out and was very happy. Which is exactly like I am when I am drunk and/or high.

I wake up as bright as bright can be - with no buzz or anything ...
So ..... doesnt indicate what I am like when I have been drinking ....

I've gone down, but never been under.
Epidurals just make you feel a bit itchy as the numbness wanes and that's the most anesthesia I've ever had.

My keet has gone under twice in the past 2 weeks

he's normally a happy go lucky child very respectful and considerate of others but both times he's come out he's been very mean and disrespectful and this attitude lasts for about 3 hours after the surgery. I'm just hoping it's not an indication of what's to come when he get's a few boat drinks in him.

Well from my experience , I wouldnt think so ... I am really alert when I wake up ... and when I have a few drinks under the belt - alert is not a word that comes to mind .....
So for your keets sake - hope I am right.
And home he is doing ok ...... ((((keet))))

I wouldn't panic and schedule anger management yet
It can be pretty scary for a kid that age to wake up and not know where they are, what they're doing, etc....

From personal experience with my keet, when he had to go under the doctor and the anaestheseologist (sp?) both told us kids wake up scared and confused so not to worry. Sure enough he did, was very grumpy. They say this will change as they get older, but it is rough on kids up until they are teens, especially if under all the way and not just twilight .
You can test by getting him drunk, but I say no beer till they are twelve, of course I may be more conservative than most.
(I am KIDDING for those that dont understand sarcasm).

I wake up and then throw up (constantly)

I don't take it well... They usually end up having to give me a shot to get me to stop.
I've never had enough to drink that caused that reaction...so I don't know if that is a match or not....

I get the same way, esp when they took me off the morphine too. Being doped up is just too much of a nice relaxing feeling to ever want to give it up.

I've always been told (and experienced it first hand) that you wake up from anethesia with the same feelings as when they put you under - i.e. if you were having anxiety before they put you out - you'd wake up with anxiety. Ever since I've heard that I've tried to remember that before being put under and it really does work.
On another note - I hope your keet is gonna be ok???

Anesthesia has never worked on me.
So does that mean I can drink all I want with no effect?

It also depends on what kind of anesthesia that's used. I've been given some where I just COULD NOT wake up

So they had to give me another drug to help me. I've been given some where I wake up and feel just FINE. And some that have made me a little groggy and disoriented.. I think you don't need to worry about your keet in the future. I just hope he's ok?

I'm the same way, I get soooo sick coming out of it.....and usually feel like sh*t for several days after.....

Might be something to that theory....Wonder if there's been any studies on it...?
I get happy, talkative.....(THERE'S a shocker!

) giggly....and ask for coffee immediately...
A family member..who , um..has a history of fighting...a
lot? (Over 16 arrests , all for fighting...and all while drinking) He comes out of anesthesia cussing and swinging at everyone around him....and has since he was 10.....
Last time, he threw a bed pan at the RR nurse..
Never thought about it.....but interesting...
