On this day in 1947 Howard Hughes flew
Spruce Goose, the largest flying boat ever built, on its maiden flight in Long Beach, California.
Have you seen it?

I haven't seen it "in person" so to speak. But even in photos, it just looks PHENOMENAL. I happen to be reading a Howard Hughes biography right now; it shows several photos, and of course tells the story. Wow.

I saw it and went on it. It's amazing that it took flight. Quite an accomplishment.
