Thank God for caller ID

If I get one more prerecorded message endorsing a political candidate (or more likely, bashing his/her opponent), I'm leaving the phone behind and moving to Canada!

I've come home the last two evenings to find my answering machine full, and I've gotten four more calls already today. My political convictions are not so weak that a 30 second phone call will change them. And if they were, I'd be flip-flopping every 30 minutes with the next phone call.

I can't wait for Wednesday morning! Make the voices STOP! [smilie=sillyjester.gif]

Yup...I only recently got caller ID and boy has it come in handy.

Now if we could get rid of all the mailers! :x Someone needs to do a study on how much pollution all that creates. At least I toss mine in the recycle bin, but I'm sure many do not.

I hang up on anyone selling something if I do by chance answer the phone. I used to try to be polite, now I don't bother.

Sometimes the caller ID does them in.

We got a real call from local politician this a.m., and I didn't answer it when I saw his name, thinking it was a political ad.

After he didn't leave a message, I saw it had his home phone number. Oops! Well, if it was important, he'd've left a message!

I called back the number but of course it was busy...so i called information and got ther number to both parties headquarters and told them to take me off their lists...no calls since (crosses fingers hoping i'm not speaking too soon)...

Several years ago, one of my friends, who is very liberal, and gay, got a call from Phyllis Shafley :o :o :o

My particular congressional district will be a landslide and I have only received 1 call and 3 pieces of literature.

But a few years ago, after the 10th recorded call for the same candidate, I called her campaign headquarters, got someone in charge, and told them that for every phone call I got, that was one voter I would convince to vote for the other side!

If I get recorded messages I just hang up,

...but if a real person is on the line I just tell them that I will vote for their candidate... regardless of who it is...
it shuts them up and they say "Thank you" ...I also tell them to take me off their call lists...the calls are over in 15-30 seconds.

If it were a person that might be different, i don't mind talking...but those damn recorded messages won't let you hang up...I mean even if you hang up, when you pick back up their still there...

I'm glad we don't have a landline.

And my mom got so many mailers for one candidate that she decided to vote against him because she didn't approve of how much he spent campaigning (small town race).

If it's a pre-recorded message, I'll hang up.
If it's someone actually asking for me, I tell them "Mr. Joseph is deceased."
I do the same thing with my junk mail-I write on the envelope "deceased-return to sender"-they pay for their crap twice going through the mail, and I never hear from those jerk-offs again.
