I have had it for a long time and have never had a problem with it, if you have a new brand of cd to be labeled, sometimes you need to go to the website and update, that happened to me once with some DVD's that I bought.

Sometimes the drive will not recognize the Lightscribe disc and you have to go their website, I know Memorex and Verbatim both make Lightscribe, if you have used one and not the other, your drive may not recognize it.
It's easily fixed, PM me if you need help.

Lightscribe is a little more expensive, but if you catch them on sale, they can be comparable to a regular cd.

I use lightscribe and love it since I have bad handwriting, lol. Never had a problem. I just buy the special cd/dvds at a Staples or Office Max or something. The Fred Meyer here and the cd but not the DVDs.

I've never had a cd burner "burn out", I think the guy that sold you the computer was talking out of his butt... Yeah, they'll fail or break every so often, but they don't really have a lifespan like a light bulb... CD burners will last long past the usable life of a standard computer.

I don't know what words you want me to use......however, I have a cd burner that does not burn any longer......if I want it to work I have to go buy a new burner!!!!!!!! Per the people at Staples.......and my puter with the lightscribe was purchased at Best Buy!!!!!

The Best Buy guy was probably trying to sell you the extended warranty... When you go into those big box stores, 90% of the employees you talk to will have no clue about the products they sell.
CD burners, just like everything else, will fail. They don't have a set number of 'burns' before they go bad... If you want to use the lightscribe, go for it. I doubt it will shorten the life span of your burner.

I'm really impresssed with the quality of the lightscribe burners. It just takes too long for me to use but I really dig it. If the process was faster, I'd have one.
use it, why not??
