Time to get up but I can't move
What did I do last night?
Am I home? Are these my clothes?
I hope my car's alright.
Least it's Sunday. No, it's Monday.
I better call in dead.
Well I might get fired, but I'm so burnt
I can't get out of bed.
thanks, Julie Brown...

I go to work sick unless I am so sick that I can't walk. Why spend a good day off being sick at home when you can infect the rest of the office and have some quiet time at work two days later when everyone else has 'called off sick'. I'd rather use my sick/personal days to take 3-day weekends to go sailing in the bay.
I go to w**k sick, but I luckily don't get really sick that often **knocking on wood**... Ever since I worked at a place that just gave out "Personal Time Off" (instead of seperate sick + vacation) that you could use for anything, I have a difficult time with places that still have seperate sick/vacation days. So I have to admit to calling in sick when I'm really not.....well, I suppose I am sick of work, so that counts for something, right??

You can dream a dream, and make it true, now what are ya gonna do?
Basically I work out of the house. I have responsibilities that require me to leave the house for several hours a day and quite often. When I am sick I call my boss tell him that I am sick and will be limited on leaving but will do what I need from the house exclusively. It works really well because that way I don't use sick days.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.
I hardly ever call IN sick - I hate thinking my co-workers will have to pick up my duties. Silly I know because I do take days off. I'm one of those people who run low normal temperatures 97.4 so when I get a 98.6 I have a fever. No one would believe it though. Can you imagine....
Me: "Hi, I won't be in today, I have a fever."
Boss: "Really how high is it?"
Me: "98.6."
Boss: "Get your sorry @&& in here now!"
I work from home, so unless I'm too sick to talk, I'm pretty much working if I'm scheduled to work, but I've personally always liked, " I'm taking a mental health day."

Yea, that does s*** and make it especially hard to call in to the person(s) you're piling extra work on. If I take off now though, I just have more to do the next day, which just makes the day go faster!
If I'm not at work, I don't get paid. Therefore, unless I'm physically unable to move, I drag my ass in to get paid for feeling miserable.
More often, I call in to say my kid's sick, and I'll be in when my husband gets home.
When I used to get paid sick days, I called in sick. But even way back then, I'd usually opt for using them for fun stuff, and not actually being sick. (unless it was too much fun the night before, and I risked dui attempting to drive in! )

OK I voted other- I'll "splain". I haven't been really sick in over 3 years...maybe more. (And I'm a school nurse!) But I did say in my interview for this job, I would only call in for a Buffett concert. They laughed but said OK. Then told them I needed the day off to go to the Charlotte concert and they said "you weren't kidding". I went to Charlotte!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"
