Wheel Inside a Wheel growing on anybody else?

Might be in the wrong forum...

Heard it again last night on RM, with a pretty cool intro from Savannah Jane. Not his typical style, but I'm starting to enjoy the countermelodies from Nadirah and the guitars...

First time I heard it I said he should drop Piece Of Work from the setlist and replace it with this song.

If you like Buffett's Wheel, you'll love the original by Mary Gauthier on her Mercy Now album. Same for the original version of Elvis Presley Blues by Gillian Welch from Time (the Revelator) and Guy Clark's Cinco de Mayo in Memphis from his new album Workbench Songs.

REALLY!!!!! How cool, had no idea it's a cover. Now, for $50,000 and the free car, who can pronounce Mary's last name correctly? And yes indeedy, Gillian's version of Elvis is awesome too...

It's one of my 4 favorite songs on the album, including "Nothing But A Breeze", "BIBOMO" and "Bama Breeze". I am sure more will come to grow on me though.

I have enjoyed the song from the beginning also. A little harsh with your reply PHRhino, was it not? Are you just a little upset that Jimmy does not make Wyoming a frequent stop on the tour or what?

Harsh, me? Where?? About the 50k and free car? That was from hearing Jimmy talk about her, how the pronounciation of her last name is a clear give-away that she's cajun...Or that it's just growing on me? Lol...I think it's going to be another one of his 'crossover' kind of hits, in the same way his country stuff caught other listeners, Wheel is going to wake up some of our younger jamband brethren. And to think about Jimmy playing Wyoming?! Sure!! Me and OPH would be all over it! Actually, the 'americana' music festival at Grand Targhee, like last summer with Lyle Lovett, Greg Brown, James McMurtry, etc....would be a GREAT place for him to drop in!!

I am still trying to figure out how to remove Nadirah's screeching (as my wife called it) so I will like the song.

OUCH! I guess I'm in the minority here, but it's the ONLY song on the album I don't like. :-?

Just having some fun with you PHRhino. I hope that sometime soon Jimmy will visit your beautiful state. Actually someday I should visit your beautiful state! Hang in there ya never know what may happen in the future. I just hope he continues to tour for years to come. I will travel or just go down the road and see him at Alpine every chance I can get.

Funny we all like different things.
It's not one of my favorite songs from the album but I love Nadirah on it. She gives it soul which fits nicely on a song about New Orleans.
But then I like her on everything.

Soul? I was thinking she had kind of a voodoo priestess thing going there, but "soul" works, too. :D Either way, I dig it.
