Fruitcakes?

Post by Burgerflickle »

Last he played it was Vegas last year, why has he taken such a good song out. I know he can choose what he likes but, this an awesome song IMO and very good concert song. Anyone have any reason as to why he doesnt sing it anymore?

Didn't the horns have a prominant role in the song?

Maybe he hasn't had time to rework the song without 2/3 of them.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Fruitcakes featured the horn section quite a bit, so in dropping the horns this year the song got dropped also. That's my guess. Wouldn't be surprised to see him rework it a little and have it reappear one day.

I was at that Vegas show last year, and hearing it again just made my show! :P

At each show I've seen, there's always, at least ONE song that makes the show "special".
In SD the other week, I was blown away by "...Weather With You" 8)

I don't think Jimmy's afraid of offending anyone.
and, sorry, but he isn't "gay-bashing" anyone or anything in the song.
If anything, he points out that "there's a little bit of fruitcake in every one of us"

What I think he's saying is, we're all different in some ways, and...
if ya' can't laugh at yourself sometimes
then you're just not listening to, and appreciating LIFE'S music

or as a guy I used to work with always said:

"If you can't laugh ... you're dead!"

I was really disappointed when he didn't play it at the 2nd Vegas show last year. It's definitely one of my 13 year old's favourites and one of those "fun songs".
'Cause I want to be there, I want to go back down and lie beside the sea there ...

I like the horns but the steel drums could play ANYTHING on any song and sound the best. Anyone remember when JB opened up with Havana Daydreamin' on the SOC tour and the steel drums were HUGE? That was excellent.
