We stayed across the street from Le Tub, on the Beach in Dania, only about 2 miles from the airport on Ocean. Looking for the name of the place now.Mots wrote:Paul my fiance and I can fly there pretty cheap from our airport so I guess we would spend up to 175 to 200 a night.
Just looking to relax on beach, but be able to walk to restaurants and shopping areas b/c we aren't going to rent a car.
Isn't Ernie's in FTL?
thanks

Ernie's is indeed in Ft. Lauderdale, on US 1. Unfortunately, not walking distance from the beach, but worth a cab ride. Or a stop on the way to your hotel -- it's right near the airport.Mots wrote:Paul my fiance and I can fly there pretty cheap from our airport so I guess we would spend up to 175 to 200 a night.

Lots of beachfront hotels. I'd consider the Bahia Mar Resort:
http://www.bahiamarhotel.com/
Easy walking distance to the Strip ( what's left of it
For transport, I'd highly recommend the Water Taxi:

It'll take you into downtown, and is a lot of fun in its own right.
Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

We've been in the area twice but we've stayed in Hollywood about 10-15 minutes south of the airport at a place called The Manta Ray Inn. http://www.mantarayinn.com Very friendly people....About $125-$135 a night, bar-b-que gas grill for your use, Right on the beach, walking distance to the Hollywood "Broadwalk" where there are bars, restaurant, shops. Not the quantity of places you'll get in Lauderdale but alot less commotion.

Mots..where
Ringling is talking about is Hollywood Beach (my home town) and not Lauderdale...although only like a 20 min drive to Lauderdale Beach. Highly reccommend Le Tub for drinks..but would go with Flicker Light (Capone's) for dinner (they are right nest door to each other) if you go with that area! Also loook for a Captain Bob playing guitar in the area bars. Hes a huge Buffett fan and will play him for you all night if you ask. Say hi for me too! As for Lauderdale Beach, lets see there are the Yankee Trader and Yankee Clipper ( I always get them confused) but neither is far from Beachplace which has a ton of shopping and bars. Also Bahia Mar is BEAUTIFUL. They also have restaurants and bars right there. and as mentioned earlier, you can search for the Travis McGee plaque...hint* look in the dockmasters office... Thre are a billion hotels on the beach, most of them nice. A friend of mine was just there and she says she wouldn't recommend the Holiday Inn on the beach though. Hope that helps some...
