Nice to know. And thanks for the slam, BTW.Soraya wrote:You really should find out the facts before you go about repeating insulting urban myths and gossip.Desdamona wrote:But Brent Burns has already written it for him...

You can think it's a slam, but if you repeat lies just to insult others without even bothering to check if what you've been told is true.....don't be so suprized when you are called on the carpet for doing so.Desdamona wrote:Nice to know. And thanks for the slam, BTW.

To be honest, I think my post was blunt, but no more impolite then the original lie that was posted, but I will strive for a better tone that better suits the spirit of the board.SMLCHNG wrote:There's nothing wrong with pointing out an error in accuracy with someone's post - but there is always a polite way to phrase it.

The thread has not been deleted....and if the best you can do do is pick on one semi-misspelled word that did not prevent the post from being understood in any way rather then actually discuss the context of the post speaks volumes.Moonie wrote:well...I am just shocked...and surpri Z ed..Soraya wrote:You can think it's a slam, but if you repeat lies just to insult others without even bothering to check if what you've been told is true.....don't be so supri z ed when you are called on the carpet for doing so.Desdamona wrote:Nice to know. Oh, and "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise", to quote Gomer Pyle, but the spelling the word 'surprized' is a dictionary accepted variant of the world.
Maybe not the most common, and why I tend to use it rather then 'surprise' I don't know....but there you go.
Using the occasional letter zed is not the same as spreading false information about another nation for purpose of ridicule and jingoism....not even close.

I wasn't referring to this thread...I was referring to a thread that has definately been removed from off topic...you see Queen's reply to me...
I got ragged on for spelling surprize with a Z...
a very feeble attempt was made by someone here to give me a spelling lesson regarding the use of ..Z and also the definition of variant...
don't be so defensive...my quote and post to you was done...tongue in cheek.....
none of my business, but Desdamona is probably one of the most honest people that I know and would never do what you have accused her of, I know her personally. Her post may be been inaccurate...but your accusing her of telling a lie is over the line...
There are a lot of urban myths out there, and a lot of differing opinions regarding the French....

Enough, already. I wasn't intending to start a fight.
I just wish people who find fault with my posts
would treat me as gently as I would them.
I have no personal problems with the French, or
with any group of people... except mean ones.
And I was just quoting Brent, as indicated by the
use of italics, quotation marks, and a reference url.
So if you want to pick a fight, go to him. With his
new hip, he isn't carrying that scary walking stick
any more, so you might be able to get the upper
hand. I think the shrapnel from his combat wound
may be gone too. I'm not sure about that part.
