But Brent Burns has already written it for him...

I know this is getting off the subject but what else is new with the threads here. The French can't help themselves. They have been picked on for centuries and they need to flex their muscle, what little they have, every chance they can get. Its like the poor person you knew in school who always got picked on because they were small and weaker than others.

I like France Sux also. They've had their chances time and time again, and just conspire to sit idly by and watch as the world goes by.

The general French bashing isn't necessary. In fact on the larger scale some of you are referring to, the US looks worse than stupid. The French wisely held out for proof of WMD's in Iraq...they haven't lost over 3,000 troops there, created a religious war, lost diplomatic credibility around the world, and found themselves desperately looking for ways to escape. They haven't rubbed the US's face in it...but look at the way some of you are behaving. Amazing. :-?

And yeah, I can take a joke...cute the first time but the piling on isn't necessary.

As for possible song titles....

How about some specific French bashing. The French were big players in the Iraqi arms for food scandal, The French started Viet Nam, we went in to clean up their mess when they cut and ran. Sure the French helped us in the Am. Revolution, but it wasn't so we could be free, it was to destabilize England which they weren't good friends with. Anyone remember Bhopal? French company. Ever hear of Ira Einhorn? Convicted murder left the US was living in France for over 20 years, the French would not extridite him back to serve his sentence. Do I need mention the number of African nations the French colonized and have left only to crumble into corrupt third world nations. Yeah, France is great.

You really should find out the facts before you go about repeating insulting urban myths and gossip.

"This cemetery, 172.5 acres in extent, is one of fouteen permanent American World War II cemeteries constructed on foreign soil. Free use as a permanent burial ground was granted by the government of France in perpetuity without charge or taxation."

LOL...I'd like to see the reasoning behind that comment. Union Carbide is headquartered in Danbury, Connecticut. It was sold years after Bhopal to Dow, who is in Michigan.

What is amusing in this thread, since the other post mentioned France refusing to extridite Ira Einhorn, is that the chairman of UC at the time, Warren Anderson (also an American by the way) was convicted of culpable homicide in India for what happened. He lives in the US with no restrictions and though India is trying to extradite him, the USA is not being cooperative.

I suggest you brush up on some history. The French didn't start Vietnam, the people of Vietnam started their country. The French did fight a war against the independence of Vietnam (and all of French Indo-China) and lost it at the battle of Dien Bien Phu in Laos, thus creating North Vietnam. The US became involved when President Eisenhower decided to send advisors to help combat the growing threat to South Vietnam posed by the Communist regime in the North. More troops, equipment and advisors were sent during JFK's time in office, which preceded LBJ and the Tonkin Resolution. That was when we officially starting shooting at N. Vietnam.

I know that these may seem like little details however they do make a world of difference when compared to what you posted.

That is almost funny. :-? Have you never heard the concept of "strategic alliances"? And isn't this (vs. altruism) predominantly the way the politics of the world still run?

No doubt France is the only country that's ever been involved in arms scandals (Sandanistas, Iran-Contra, etc. apparently don't count). Loss Manatee adeptly adressed Vietnam. But if you're going to go after colonial powers, you might as well hate the Spanish, British (and hence Americans), Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Vikings, Celts, Greeks, Romans, etc.

Althought I don't recall specifics on Einhorn, places like Abu Ghirab, Guantanamo and wherever the CIA play their dirty games keeps me from pointing too many fingers at others.

Personally, I like looking more for the positives and contributions of cultures, people, etc. around the world vs. focusing so much on attacking and negativity. Having an open and adventuring spirit allows folks to look beyond the bumps in the road, and leaves us with interesting stories to tell...like the one Jimmy now has re. the French customs guys and little round pills.
