Enjoyed Austin and Gruene so, so much and hanging with all the wild and crazy BNers!!
Threadgill's was a super place to see all the old Austin music photos and enjoyed getting together for the first time with the BN gang. About half of us made it there!!
Parking lot fun at Austin Motel...I love that place!!!
County Line and those mysterious jello shots that kept appearing out of nowhere.
What a fun time it was to see Terry enjoying or rather :chugalugging" that Margarita and the Pineapple B's. MFB's were really good too.
One World Theater was beautiful. What a wonderful setting in the Texas Hill Country and magnificent building --and the seats and sound were fantastic.
It was so sad to see Jerry Jeff walk out on that stage all humped over and thin looking. It was obvious that he was in pain and I would have KNOWN that even without the inside information that he had been DOWN with his back for a few days.
This was his second show of the evening and I would have thought he was drunk. In spite of it being the shortest show I've ever seen and all the slurring of words, I love Jerry Jeff so much for making this one of the most special shows I've seen. It was one of the WORST best shows ever.
We got the pleasure of hearing the premier of a new song, Like Father Like Son.
It was so loving to watch Jerry Jeff and Django trade lines and those very special glances into each others eyes and hearts while doing that song. They gave everyone a glimpse of WHO they really are.
The Cape was really special. DPHarmboy got some EXCELLENT footage of stuff....I can't wait to see all of those shots and vids.
Saturday...
German food was good, although no sauerbraten for Santa and he came all the way from Idaho!
It wasn't missed after all the other special dishes we got and some yummy, yummy desserts.
Free band in Gruene Hall was Sean Castillo and Hubcaps. He did a great set of Johnny Cash songs and sounded a lot like Hank Williams too at times.
Shopping in Gruene was cool and hanging out in the bar by the wood burning stove was cozy! Some enjoy bloody marys for dinner, others tequila shots and there were always Coronas and Shiner Bocks circulating through the crowd.
NOW, WOW! Just absolutely ....WOW!
Asleep at the Wheel BAND, Ray Benson, Emily and Jason-- was ONE of the very BEST shows I have ever been to. WE got in early enough for a table in the back close to the bar, but stood the whole time up front, up close and personal. Thanks to those who wanted to sit and could save our places.
BEST song of the evening again was THE CAPE. But, I gotta say that Cotton Eyed Joe and dancing with some complete strangers was too too special. I remember so many nights of dancing Cotton Eye Joe, always a staple at a TEXAS dancehall.
Hot Rod Lincoln was great too. What a super bunch of musicians!
And it was so much fun to enjoy it with BNers who love music.
A foggy ride back to Austin last night and a very late night and heading home early this morning to cats whose arrangements were very different due to the cold, cold weather has left this old parrothead very tired.
Way to go BNers for creating those magical moments that will remain in the memory bank forever!
Enjoyed being with Dave and Janice (gbman and m&mm), Bill and Debbie (Plays), Dan and Lori (PHarms), Ravi (aeroparrot), Wayne (ragtop "Santa"), Kathy (katwich, Janice (txaggirl) and sister Angie, (THANKS FOR THE GRUENE HALL koozie to keep the hands warm), Larry (LIPH) (I have a great photo of HOG to post later!!!) Terry (ETP), KK (Vanillgrl) and friend Jeannie, Carol (Jump Up) and Teach!
Most of all thanks to mr conched for being the best ever!

Excellent review of the weekend Nancy. I think I remember some of that.
We're home safely, if a little tired. Mrs. Play is already asking about the next phlocking so hopefully we'll see some of you again soon.

It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

What an AWESOME weekend!
Great music, great "old" friends, great "new" friends, good food and drinks! WOW!
And I was reminded why phlockings are so special. A co-worker of mine was at the JJW show Friday night, and met some of the BNer's there. She just kept telling me how cool she thought it was that people from all over the USA came together for these shows and to see each other, and how we seemed so much like phamily.
Pharmboy and I are so very lucky to have found this very, very, very special BN phamily. Thank you all for welcoming us into your "phold."
So glad to meet you FINALLY, txa. And aeroparrot and KK!
And WELCOME to all of our special guests this weekend. Angie, you are the sweetest thing, and Jeannie, you totally crack me up. Thanks for joining our phlocking!
Still working on getting some pictures posted -- pharmboy took over 150 pictures!!!! And several video clips.
Our kids - Our future, that's funny. I need to photoshop it to We Are The People ...

Great seeing everyone again (or for the first time). A special thanks to the Pharms for being my taxi service picking me up at the airport Friday and taking me back today.
I had never seen Asleep At The Wheel before and I had only heard a couple of their songs but I really enjoyed the show last night. And I think I"m in lust with Elizabeth McQueen.
