HAIR! Anyone else do this? I chopped my hair last weekend and donated my hair to Locks of Love. It's a great feeling. first, I was able to help children who have cancert. second, i lost about 2ish pounds because that's how much hair I had....

So, anyone else ever done this? If you have the ability to grow your hair out, you should definitely participate and donate in this program!!!

no one wants my hair..... but my keet has think hair and she donates it....

Are you sure they are donating it to kids with cancer? From what I was told ( I plan on donating mine in the spring when its long enough) they usually don't donate it to cancer kids because thier condition is considered temporary as their hair will grow back, and Locks of Love sends hair to permanant hair loss paitents...that was my plan as well (cancer kids) because I lost my brother to cancer and he hated not having hair ...anyway, if you know of a p.lace where it would go to cancer kids, that would be great!

well, there's lots of organizations out there actually. and this time of year, TONS of hairdressers advertise for particular days where they do "hair drives" to donate the hair. I've seen tons of notices in my local Starbucks. Locks of love, as my understanding is, donates the hair to children and teenagers with any type of permanent hair loss. A great number of the patients the help have a disease called alopecia areata, and otherw have luekemia, and other forms of cancer. But check around. I donated to locks of love, as I have been doing for about 15 years now.

My daughter just did this, for about the 4th time!
It's a wonderful thing for people with patience (and uncoloured hair).
My daughter says one reason she does it is that she can't give blood (we lived in France and therefore are banned).

Anyone who has been to Europe from 1980 to the present.If you have been to Europe from 1980 to the present, you are ineligible to donate blood through 17 May 2004. After 17 May, you will be able to donate blood as long as you were not in UK for more than 3 months, or 6 months in Eastern / Western Europe between the 1980 to present timeframe.

WOw interesting...

My wife has done that twice. Her hair grows so fast, she was doing it once a year until the wedding came up this year.

I donated 14 inches about 5 years ago - haven't had it long enough since then to do it again It WAS a great feeling

I wish I could donate hair to locks of love. I've tried to grow it out, but it gets too shaggy, and I have to cut it before it gets too long. Although, I have a few friends who have.


And I am giving blood, this week actually.

i have a son with curly red hair. Not clown red, a nice shade. He had it really long and donated this fall. I was so sad but it's for a great cause. Some red-headed kid will be thrilled to be able to get hair the same as his.

I haven't donated my hair but I make triple platelet donations monthly. I feel lucky to be able to help someone who needs them.

i have a friend that donates her hair when it gets long enough.
