It is a 4PM game and I have tickets for that game but I think he would be #3 behind Schilling and Beckett.
Oh yeah... I forgot about Beckett. Haven't really thought about baseball for about 5 months.

Do you think he'll manage to get his head out of his ass this year?

Clement is out until 2008 so his Red Sox career is over. Alomost no way they trade Beckett, Theo learned his lesson from last season when he traded Arroyo because they thought they had enough pitching. The only sceniro I can them trading Beckett is if they sign Clemens and even with that I doubt it.

Look unter the Buzz on Boston Dirtdogs!! They even mention it......i hope they don't........with Schill......DMatt......Beckett......Papelbon.......Lester(if he comes back).......wakefield.......where does Clemens fit into the otation!!.......and they can't per Doctors put Paplebon as the closer due to his injury last year.....he can't go everyday!

That's what I thought. If the Sox blundered and couldn't sign D-Mat, I think it would be a definite possibility for Clemens to go back to Boston. I think the more likely scenario is for him to follow Pettitte to the Yankees, especially with the Yankees having more holes in their rotation
Clemens...Mussina...Pettitte...Unit...Wang. Talk about an old creaky rotation.

If they signed Clemens they would put Wakefield in the bullpen.....there was even a report that they would consider using Wakefield as a closer again.
I just can't see them trading Beckett, they feel Hansen will be ready to close in 2008 so they would be trading Beckett (who they have signed for 4 more years) for a one year player. What closers are available that could take on Beckett salary and have a top shelf closer to give back? Washington maybe?
They are looking at a rotation from 2008-2011 of Beckett-Dicek-Papplebon-Lester all under 26 years old I doubt any of them will be dealt.

Hey! The Reds made a 4 way trade today! They traded 4 minor leaguers for Mariano Rivera, Albert Pujols, Johan Santana, and Ryan Howard! OK...not really but it felt good for about 5 seconds. Dear Wayne Krivsky...please get us a good guy in the bullpen and just one more good starter!

Remember, the only reason why the Red Sox are considering Wakefield in the bullpen, as a closer, is that he does have experience in closing AND with the knuckleball, rest is not really that much of a concern.

I would not make Wakefield the Closer...2 reasons....he great at eating up innings and reating your bullpen....also......i would not bring in a knuckleballer in to close a game....wildness...runners can steal easily and on top of it...the pass ball!!....Long relief maybe!!...also you have to make a position change at Catcher!!...so it makes no sense to use him in that roll!!

Clement might be back after the all-star break, but it'll take a while for him to be effective. That labrum injury is tough to recover from.
Lester will be in Spring Training. Doctors have cleared him.

Rotation should be:
Schilling
Beckett
Dice K
Papelbon
Lester
Clement's role will be decided at mid-season.
Wakefield is your spot-starter/long reliever
Bullpen will likely include:
Timlin
Hansen
Tavarez
Delcarmen
But the closer is up in the air. Rumor has them acquiring Akinori Otsuka from Texas once they sign Eric Gagne.

22 career saves...high was 15 /28 chances.......72 walks 146 hits in 140 innings that year...with a 6-11 record.....i don't see any pluses in him being the closer!!!.........i would be concerned!!!

Clement will not pitch until at least September when roster expand, 2007 is the last year of his contract so either way 2007 is his last year in Boston. Lester will start the year in AAA, he was only called up last year because they lost so many starters to injury. Lester isn't ready to be an everyday ML starter he struggled a great deal last season with his control.
Rotation
Schilling
Beckett
Dice-K
Papplebon
Wakefield
(Clemens)?
Bullpen
Timlin
Okajima
DelCarman
Tavaras
Wakefiled (If they sign Clemens)
TBD Closer
(Hansen, Snyder, DiNardo, Gabbard) one of two will fill out the rest.
As far as a closer, they may go with Devern Hansack who pitched great in the minor leagues and who many think could close.

I made the isitake of overvaluing Marcus last year and it was only after I traded for Brian Roberts that I was able to save my Fantasy baseball season. Marcus is a nice player but nto the stud some people made him out to be a few years ago. I do think he would be a ncie addtion for the Mets though.[/quote]

I don't think Wakefield would be a permanent closer. I think they would have him as a stopgap until they can find someone who can be the closer.
