Got one at the green drake for $90. Rooms in Aspen were outrageous, and I wasn't sure about glenwood springs, the further north I go, the more it's out of my way...

With a family commitment on the 23rd and air fares starting around $600, this one's just not in the cards for me.

Good luck on tickets folks and have loads of fun. :D

I just booked a room, same place, same price - through Expedia. Sounds like the bus to and from the hotel will be a good option.

Yup, that's the plan. Leave kinda early from Fort Fun and head south, then west!! after I call in sick to work...that day is already booked with people to be out of the office. why??

was that one of their one-bed rooms? Did you book through Expedia, or did you call? If you called, did they mention availability?
I booked through Expedia, supposedly through them I can cancel 1 week before. The hotel's website, green-drake.com, says they need a month cancellation, which basically meant paying for the room even with the possibility of not getting tickets.

It's a one-queen-bed room, supposedly.

If you do the e-mail member tickets, you're probably in good shape for getting tickets. The queen one bedrooms are nice, and truly have a separate bedroom and sitting room with sofa/tv. Bathroom is pretty good, too. It's not HUGE mind you, but clean, warm, and cozy. The only thing I remember is it didn't have very good lighting. Seemed kinda dim.

You'll have soooo much fun!!!!!!!!!

I'm an editing fool!! I've changed my message a couple times, and booked a room since too.

I thought I saw on their site that you could cancel within 5 days? I'll look again (and then most likely edit my post if necessary).

What are your travel plans? I've never driven to Aspen, so I'm wondering what's best, and such. I've taken 70 west over the mountains, but not in December, and never to Aspen.

I really hope I don't have to use this, unless I win Lotto and get a room in Aspen that is :)

It does say that, but it also says this:

Last year it didn't snow at all on our way up or while we were there so it took about 3.5 hours each way.

There's always the chance snow will make the drive take longer and it just depends on how much snow and how many folks will be on the road. It's a Friday, so you do face the possibility of heavy traffic, vs. last year when the show was on a Wednesday. The more time you can give yourself to get up there, the better.

Oh yeah.....After the show last year, any number of band members were just kinda hangin' out after the show, so you don't have to rush out...all of them were happy to just chat with us. :)

yeah, I see it now, when I'm crazed and focused on Jimmy I can't be held accountable for reading the instructions. Who's going to blame me??

I'm taking 285 North (from Alamosa) to 24 (Buena Vista), then over Independence Pass (Hwy 82)... According to mapquest, it's almost a 4 hour drive... I don't remember it taking that long, but it has been a while since I've been up that way.

I think we're closed that day, so hopefully we'll get there with plenty of time to check in and all, and not be too rushed.

What's the policy on cameras? Do they allow them? Only flash-less? Not at all? Cell phone cam? Bueller? :D

You would easily be able to get a camera in, but they are strictly forbidden to use during the show. And by strictly forbidden I mean that Charleston will not only give you a mean, nasty look, he will take your camera until the end of the show. There will be signs on the doors when you go in that says cameras aren't allowed.

Make sure Independence pass isn't closed. I think it was last year when we went.

Ok. But I should add that I DO have pictures of me on stage with Jimmy. You'd prolly be more successful with a camera phone, but seriously, be discreet.

Crap, I didn't think about that. It will add a good 2 hours to my drive to go around. Good thing I'll have the whole day off :)

So... My new route is 285 North to 24, then to I-70, through Avon and Glenwood Springs, down 82 to Aspen. Almost a 6 hour drive... :-?
