Ooohh. For all of you still looking at flights, consider the possibility of flying into Grand Junction. I believe they have a municipal airport there and it's a shorter, less strenuous drive from Grand Junction to Aspen as you don't have to deal with the huge mountain passes. It's also where my daddy lives!

Grand Junction's airport code is GJT and I know for sure United flys there. Maybe some others.

I suppose you've all seen this:

I got a response from Stewart Oksenhorn at the Aspen TImes. This was part of what he sent me.

I was considering 82 as well, until I talked to a skier yesterday. He looked at me like I was crazy. As if the pass would be open, what am I crazy??? Uh-Yeah, I am, gotta problem with that??

Sounds like we'll all be on the same road for most of the journey.

well crap.....just did the math...it is so not in the cards for me this year.
I do still have a couple of draws left on my lottery tickets, so who knows?
If it weren't so close to Christmas I would road trip it, but I can't take a chance getting snowed in between here and there and missing Christmas with my family.....and God knows there's pleny of snow between here and there....especially today!

I figured the picture was part of the e-mail. But since I didn't receive it (thanks again shaker) thought I'd post it.

82 is always seasonably closed, and trust me, you wouldn't want to be on it in bad weather. And from the Denver airport, it's up I-70 with all the other weekend warriors heading to the ski resorts, for one of their best snow seasons so far in years, on a Friday......

Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence for a great ride up!! Can I borrow your car, or maybe just your snow tires??

There's something weather related that I'm thinking, but I'm not gonna say it, 'cus that'll jinx it. No worries, we're fine... [smilie=whistle.gif]

just a voice of experience, not trying to be a downer. i've been stuck in the I-70 parking lot more than once, summer and winter.

it's usually not bad all the way, but can be around Dillon, Vail pass (depending on weather) then in spots going up the valley from Glenwood to Aspen.

I wasn't sure which B word she meant, but you may be on the right path there.

Ok. B is always for boobies. But boobies wouldn't keep you from going to Aspen!!! It's the other "B" word that isn't happy, bouncy thingies!
