Ooohh. For all of you still looking at flights, consider the possibility of flying into Grand Junction. I believe they have a municipal airport there and it's a shorter, less strenuous drive from Grand Junction to Aspen as you don't have to deal with the huge mountain passes. It's also where my daddy lives!

I suppose you've all seen this:

I got a response from Stewart Oksenhorn at the Aspen TImes. This was part of what he sent me.
I was considering 82 as well, until I talked to a skier yesterday. He looked at me like I was crazy. As if the pass would be open, what am I crazy??? Uh-Yeah, I am, gotta problem with that??
Sounds like we'll all be on the same road for most of the journey.

well crap.....just did the math...it is so not in the cards for me this year.
I do still have a couple of draws left on my lottery tickets, so who knows?
If it weren't so close to Christmas I would road trip it, but I can't take a chance getting snowed in between here and there and missing Christmas with my family.....and God knows there's pleny of snow between here and there....especially today!

82 is always seasonably closed, and trust me, you wouldn't want to be on it in bad weather. And from the Denver airport, it's up I-70 with all the other weekend warriors heading to the ski resorts, for one of their best snow seasons so far in years, on a Friday......

There's something weather related that I'm thinking, but I'm not gonna say it, 'cus that'll jinx it. No worries, we're fine...

it's usually not bad all the way, but can be around Dillon, Vail pass (depending on weather) then in spots going up the valley from Glenwood to Aspen.
