Yeah but half the fun is walking all over God's creation for hours only to come back to the first good one you saw in the first two minutes.
And I've found through the years with Christmas trees, as with family, you have to find love in the imperfections.

Bought a fake tree a number of years ago after the cats kept climbing the "real tree" and knocking it over and drinking the water. Last 2 years had to take the bottom half of the fake tree branches off to discourage climbing and hiding (didn't help) - not sure what to do this year....maybe the cactus idea?

A real-tree, pre-cut. Hubby's buddy's buddy's dad owns a local Christmas tree dealership (McCoys for anyone who is in Denver) so we always buy from them.

We get a pre-cut real tree. Love the smell of it.
We used to have fake but it was such a hassle putting it up.
Now when we're finished it just goes out the door, no need to store it.
Heck it's only 50 bucks a year.
If I could have my way, the lighted Christmas palm tree that's always sitting in the corner of my dining room would do just fine although the wife would probably not go for it.

Used to always be real ... but this year ... my Grandmother is giving me her fancy ridiculously expensive real looking tree. I kid you not ... this is one of those that you need to grab and pull on to ralize its fake. She just wants a little live tree from know on. Works for me ... I'll save money ... trees out here, at least a nice looking one, go for about $80 - $100 ... OUCH!

Gotta be real...
Next weekend, I'm looking forward to going to our local mountains, where
my good family friend's tree farm is, and help bundle and sell their Xmas trees
like I've done the last ?? years.
It is a true pleasure (and a privilege) to see the faces of kids as they search around
for their own "perfect" tree.
We'll have a fire going in the pot-bellied stove, and hot cider (some fortified for us helpers

), and in SoCal, it's the closest thing to a true winter fest.
I always pick out a ittle "Charlie Brown" tree....

We have a really nice looking fake tree that we leave up until we get tired of it.

One year it made it to March!

A couple of years ago, I hosted my family Christmas do - in March (I'm from a big family so the extended tribe gathers after the New Year...)
The tree trunk (all branches dried and sawn off already) was still out in my garage when we had the party. One of my cousins brought it inside and wrapped some ribbon around it then put all of the presents around it.
Poor thang! It reminded me of Charlie Brown's tree! LOL
This year, we're going fake...

We have a potted pine that I get to haul in until it gets too big and then I have to find a place to plant it. I figure that it will be another 3 or 4 years until it gets to that point and then we will start over with a little tree.
