I don't have a problem with compulsary government service. For the conscience objectors, let them spend 2 years in the peace corps. I would also be opposed to a lottery system or deferrment system as has been used in the past.

Charlie Rangel pulls out this issue to energize the anti-war movement just as the Republicans pull out the gay marriage issue to charge up their side. This will go nowhere just as it did a year or two ago.

I agree wholeheartedly with Skibo on this. It should be a two year stint of service and no one should be able to get out of it.
