my problem probably started when I heard it the first time... Jimmy and the boys were fresh out of Shrimpboat Sound and had been passing around the bottle of tequila with three straws... he went onstage at M'ville and did 3-4 songs..

let's just say that he hit every note in his range... couldn't hold them, but he did a slalom job that would have made the Jamaican Bobsled team proud that night.

from that point on, that song was dead.

I'm with Topless on this; Jimmy's SB is a fun tune.

And Jimmy clearly had the biggest straw (or perhaps all three) that night. :o

And there was no recording wrap-up at Margaritaville this year....

All Grateful Dead songs should be dead (no pun intended), what an overrated band.

I've noticed that although I was not crazy about it when the "Hoot" soundtrack first came out, after hearing it twice live over the summer I really enjoy listening to it (both live and studio versions).

Anyone experience the same effect?

mmmmm, nope....it's just you.....
seriously, it's not really a song I love anyway.....but I don't care for Jimmy's cover of it at all.....Jimmy should not howl.....ever.

RinglingRingling wrote:still not crazy about it, ranks right down there with trying to cover Dave Matthews. Trying to cover Zevon (unless you have Waddy Wachtel playing guitar with you and you are a cute little brunette named Linda) is a bad idea.

The most noticeable changes have been enhanced creature features, party animal magnetism & increased sex drive-in movies. [smilie=lil_red_devil.gif]

never liked the song and hopes it stays out of the setlist so it can be replaced with any jimmy buffett song.

I voted no.

Only because it didn't need to. It was a fun song for the soundtrack

Most of Jimmy's studio stuff lacks the energy of the live shows. And the live shows it was great.

I liked it from the beginning.
Dumb and drunk as I was, you know I would do it all again.
