What time? DH will be suspicious if I am interested in watching footballcaptenuta wrote:I spoke to the Saints fan relationship office. The game will be broadcast on FOX.
He said they have been trying for years to get Jimmy to do this.
The Dallas game would have been better because they moved it from noon to prime time.
He might have done it in '89 but the first time he sang the national anthem at Wrigley was the first game of the '84 playoffs. Goodman, the lifelong Cub fan, was slated to sing the anthem at that first playoff game (in some 40 years) but he died of leukemia just nine days prior, so Jimmy sang in his place.Cubbie Bear wrote:He has done it at Wrigley several times, including the Cubs- Giants playoff game, dedicated to Steve Goodman, in '89. I think the day after he passed. I have it on tape somewhere. He does a real fine job

www.saintsradionetwork.com is how you can hear the Saints games on the web. They usually play the national anthem too. You'll probably need to register (free I think) so check in a little early to do that and you'll be able to hear it.
Anyone hear if he's gonna play a few tunes Saturday night at Margaritaville ? acoustic perhaps ? Ate lunch there today with friends. Mgmt didn't know 50-50 chance but they said they usually don't know until the very last minute.
right thought, wrong playoff, so shoot meQuiet and Shy wrote:He might have done it in '89 but the first time he sang the national anthem at Wrigley was the first game of the '84 playoffs. I remember reading a story about it. Jimmy was practicing and practicing in his hotel room the night before until a guy from across the hall knocked on his door and politely asked him to stop.![]()

It's nice that he's doing the Saints game; I'm sure he's hoping to bring more attention to the city's continuing struggles (and maybe he'll be a booth guest during the game to leverage that). Hopefully they'll show at least part of the NA on TV (or maybe someone can talk Fox into posting it on their website if it's not broadcast) but the NA isn't typically part of the TV coverage. And yeah, it's clearly not the best song for Jimmy but he's a seasoned performer with a true passion for the city...and that will make it work.
