Jones Beach is a state park. It's illegal to have alcohol in state parks in NY.
And they enforce it every bit as much as the 55mph speed limit on the Long Island Expressway.
In the parking lot, you're right. The only way the cops give anyone a hard time is if they're acting like fools. But once you get inside for the show, you can't buy a beer at the concession stands.

I have not been to Bristow VA, but after last years show in Charlotte, NC it gets my vote for the best venue

I like Jones Beach the best. Nice area, beaches etc.
Just keep the drinks in the ubiquitous red Solo cup & no one hassles you about alcohol. And this lot opens the earliest of them all. You get a nice head start that way.

I've been to 10 shows at Nissan. The parking lot is awesome, although the traffic sucks. However, Prince William County is making improvements in the area around there, so 2007 may be better.
