Ambergris Caye, Belize and JJW

Post by Pepe T. Pirate »

I'm trying to entice some friends into going to JJW's Camp Belize this June. Anyone ever been to Ambergris Caye? Anyone ever been to his "camp" or to this Caye?

We'd be a family with 3 school-age, active keets. So, we'd be doing restaurants and beach stuff during the day, then we'd need a sitter for Jerry Jeff nights. We're a big group, so we're looking to rent a condo or house. Are there any snorkeling spots on this caye that don't require a boat ride? Any and all insights and experiences would be helpful!

I think the functions are at Victoria House. At least most of Cowboy Boots and Bathing Suits was recorded there.

OOPS. I haven't read much stuff at dotcom site about Camp Belize for a time.

Seems it is no longer at Victoria House...but got rather large, etc etc.

Not the intimate shows like they used to be...

most snorkeling spots are out by the reef....so you would need to take a boat....

i would try the tides....our friends own it.....

we go to amergris caye almost every year...we have property but we have yet to build on it....

if you have any questions please contact me....my parents have been taking me since i was pretty young....

I'm sure you have read all the stuff about this on jerryjeff.com
(Just trying to help) :)

Quote from dotcompadres.

We've stayed at Paradise Villas for four of our six years. They're like
condos so there's a bedroom with a door you can close for the day you need to sleep. It's right off the end of the dock where all the shows are.
(Wet Willie's Cantina which is the headquarters for camp this year.)

Our social headquarters will be at the fabulous boat-dock bar, WET WILLY'S. This is where we gather on "Arrival Sunday" for happy hour around 6:00pm to meet and mingle and get the show schedule for the week. It is also where you will find the bulletin board announcing special events, island activities available, and information on Jerry Jeff’s shows.
All the shows take place on WET WILLY'S deck over the beautiful blue-green waters of the Caribbean.

If you stay at Paradise Villas get an ocean fron or poolside unit, closer to the beach. (Has nice swimming pool)

This year we stayed at Woodys Corona del Mar which next to
Coconuts,
another jumpin' place. It's a ways to the concert venue but you'll have a
golf cart so it wouldn't matter.

Other folks stay at the Mayan Princess, next to
Fido's and you'll hear about that shortly I would guess.
(No swimming pool.)
