Second time I've ever missed finishing in the money.

But I have the best keepers for next year!

Nice I am looking at my Trophy that I got for winning my Crazy Sportsline league. Ryan Howard si teh reason I won...
Guess I'll be here for a few more minutes. Commish asked me to print some extra copies of the rosters for the meeting.

Jerry...for next year, I get to keep 5 of the following (we have a $260 salary cap):

Justin Verlander $7
Huston Street $10
Joel Zumaya $6
Jeremy Sowers $4
Craig Hansen $3
Brandon Inge $3
Mark DeRosa $2
Gary Matthews, Jr. $2
Nick Swisher $13
Raul Ibanez $20
Vicente Padilla $1
Yuniesky Betancourt $3

I'm leaning towards Verlander, Street, Zumaya, Sowers, and Matthews.
What do you think?
I like Inge over Matthews!!....Ibanez and Swisher could be keeps...put very pricy!!

Surprisingly in our dispersment draft today, the only one that I lost was Padilla. And I got a cheap Matt Garza in exchange. So I don't have to make any decisions yet.

With the Babe, it was probably less anti-Yankee sentiment than just some writer who decided to vote no so he'd be known as the lone "no" ballot. Who was the writer who voted no anyway? I mean if players were Greek gods, the Babe would be Zeus. Stats aside, he achieved an almost mythical status that few players in any sport achieve. Maybe Michael Jordan in basketball...

Gossage 21 votes shy (71%, need 75%), McGwire had just 23% of the vote.

I'm sure the big story tonight will be McGwire not getting in, but here is the bigger issue: of the 545 HOF voters, who are the 8 idiots who didn't vote for Cal Ripken? Or the 13 who didn't vote for Tony Gwynn?

Some writers feel that because Cy Young and Joe DiMaggio didn't get in on the first ballot (DiMaggio didn't get in until the 3rd ballot) no one should be a unanimous choice so they don't vote for first timers.

The bigger issue is the players who DID receive votes:

Paul O'Neill 12
Bret Saberhagen 7
Tony Fernandez 4
Dante Bichette 3
Eric Davis 3
Bobby Bonilla 2
Ken Caminiti 2
Jay Buhner 1

And two writers left their ballots completely blank. Something about too many questions in the steroid era.

That IS ridiculous. He should've been in YEARS ago.
As should've Andre Dawson.
As should've Lee Smith.
As should've RON SANTO!!!

The B.B.W.A.A. (BIAS-ed ball writers association of America) are VERY anti-Cub, and it shows.

But the BIGGEST joke of all for THIS year is Cal Ripken Jr. getting voted in with ONLY 98.5% of the vote.
That means someone DIDN'T vote for him.
Now THAT'S ridiculous. How in the world could anyone NOT vote for him.

while I will agree with them, votes against either Ripken or Gwynn who have never had the hint of the slightest smudge on their records for 'roids by not voting at all seems a little extreme.
