At the time of the shooting, I was having dinner in Honolulu about a block & a half away from the condo where Mark David A-hole lived.
The man with the most pure raw talent of anyone in the business was taken away from us just barely after turning 40.

At college, I heard Howard Cosell break the news during Monday Night Football....
Can't believe it's been that long.

I was in my mother's womb in England. Dad was in the Air Force and stationed in England and was a huge Beatles fan. I'm sure it was a rough day for him. He brought me up on Buffett and the Beatles. I'll never forget listening to Sgt. Pepper on vinyl. We miss you, John.

I was in my car, coming across the Ashley River Bridge..I had to pull over and cry....I'll never forget it...
I still have all the newspapers from when he was murdered...So sad..what a talent that man had!
Must be something about bridges...I was on the Cooper River Bridge, when I found out Elvis died.....They said "The King is dead ; Long live the King.."

I was working at Fish and Chip's when my cousin called with the news then my girl friend (now my wife) called. His sad and untimely death has left a giant hole in the music world. From time to time I think about all that was lost on this day and it's still so sad. But as John said him self "the music is still there".
So I would like to say to everyone keep listening to the music it's great and still very relevant today.

I had a dream about you
It was December in the afternoon
You’re something pretty and cool
Signing records as you’re passing through
You saw everyone as an angel
But what about the thieves?
Who don’t know what do
And don’t know who to be
You saw everyone as an angel
But what about the thief?
Who took away from you
He took away from you
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on, walking on, walking on your way
Behind the archway lies a thief
Awaiting double fantasy
He’s something evil underneath
Outside Dakota died the symphony
I think everyone has a devil waiting in the wings
When you don’t know what to do
And you don’t know who to be
You saw everyone as an angel
But what about the thief?
Who took away from you
Took away from you
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on, walking on, walking on your way
Maybe this is just a nightmare
And I will wake up
We all will wake up
Maybe this is just a nightmare
December afternoon they took away from you
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on your way
If you just kept walking on, walking on, walking on your way
Just walking on your way
Just walk on

I wasn't even thought of yet when it happened, but I grew up on the Beatles and John's made a huge impact on my life when it comes to music.

Can't believe it's been that long.

I was in Milwaukee, in a hotel, on a business trip, heard it from Howard Cosell, and sat in my room sobbing.
It is also the birthday of a close college friend who passed away 20 years ago, so this is always a day I remember.

I once read a Carl Perkins interview when he was talking about working with Paul McCartney on the Go Cats Go album. He said that he asked Paul and Linda to if he could play a song he wrote for the album. They sat down and listen as Carl played "My Old Friend" on his quitar. There's a line in the song "think of me from time to time old freind of mine". When the song was finished Paul was crying and then left the room. Carl said to Linda what's wrong. Linda said "think of me from time to time old freind of mine" is the last thing John said to Paul.
