I say cheesehead in jest, FFL.....I'm actually living in Madison for the time-being, so you can say I'm a relocated FIB. You know that one, I'm sure.

Margaritavillewis wrote:This rumor has been going around the LG area for awhile now. Here is how I believe it may have stared; someone else from this area flies a Grummen Albatross that looks very similar to Jimmy's (now unused) Albatross. We saw this plane fly over our house a few times and were sure "at that time" it was Jimmy. However, we still see the same plane fly over the house, and have even seen it land on the lake once, but now we know it isn't Jimmy since he isn't flying that particular aircraft any longer. Anyhow, small town + plane like Jimmy's making regular appearances = Jimmy must have a place here. I am a non-believer in this, never talked to anyone that has seen him anywhere in town, and it is a small town.
For the record, we live just a few minutes from the lake, just outside of Williams Bay.
I know I don't post often enough, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. 8)
What do you think that the real Hemisphere Dancer is parked at Universal Studios. i would have to believe that he still flies it, at least i would if i were him.

There is/was an Albatross (among a collection of Grumman flying boats)that was based at Kenosha. They are/were all owned by the same person (NOT JB). The owner, and another seaplane owner from northern IL have been known to be seen around the lakes of the area.

There is an airport at Grand Geneva Resort that could probably get a smaller jet in and out. The private strip off 12 is exciting enough in a smaller airplane. Last time I stopped there all I heard from my passenger was "Watch out for the ... Silo! ... SIlo!! ... SILO!!!... Fence! ... FENce!! ... FENCE!!! ... Truck! ... TRUck!! ...TRUCKKK!!!! ... ".

I think this past summer JB was staying in Sheybogan, WI, then flew from there to East Troy airport for the concert at Alpine. I thought he even made a brief mention of flying in from Sheybogan during the concert this summer.? Wasn't there a year he stayed in Fon Du Lac, too?

I heard from a source that the lease deal JB made with the Universal people to put the Hemisphere Dancer on display, was more lucrative than even selling the airplane. So, when they disassembled it, they did not even pickle the engines.

Just more coal for the rumor fires ...

Low Flyin in sunny Minnesota ...

Actually JB lives next door to me. I've never seen him but my neighbor says he's seen him so it must be true. He needs to mow his lawn the grass is getting long.

Let's see....

Palm Beach mansion
Sag Harbor mansion
St. Barths mansion
And a palatial apartment overlooking Central Park

House on Lake Geneva - doesn't quite seem to fit...

Why would Jimmy have any interest in being on a midwest lake that is too small for his yacht, doesn't offer any surfing, does not offer any decent fly fishing?

You've never seen the Wrigley Mansion, along with a "Who's Who" of Chicago's wealthiest

Like Cubbie inferred... perhaps there is a "house" or 2 on Lake Geneva, but most of them are mansions, or at least very large estates...

I know Lake Geneva has many enormous mansions.

But having a mansion on Lake Geneva doesn't quite seem to fit in with the other places that Jimmy has his homes, especially seeing how he can surf, fly fish, truly sail, or cruise around in his yacht when he's in Long Island.

I am hoping Jimmy will show up on the Guide House show on ESPN which is about a bunch of fly fishing guides who guide on the tip of Long Island for the end of summer runs of stripers, bluefish or false albacore. That would be pretty interesting.

Being in the midwest myself, and being in Michigan which has the nicest of the midwest lakes in my opinion (ie Torch Lake, Walloon Lake, Crystal Lake, the Glen Lakes, the sandy and sunset side of L Michigan), I think it would be incomprehensible to pick the midwest over Long Island. But I grew up in New York and sometimes think midwesterners are overly provincial.

Who knows. Jimmy can buy basically anywhere he wants so maybe it is true.

Oh yeah. Here in Grand Haven we locals lovingly call our Chicago summer residents "FIPs" But that is mainly because Chicagoans own the majority of our Lake Michigan beach front.
