I don't think you should have to pay for courtesy.
I also don't think that is always true... we have a Dollar General here in my town & the salespeople have always been very nice, even when it is busy.
Now WalMart here in my town, very seldom will you get a smile from any of the salespeople...travel about 10 miles to the next WalMart and they are very friendly. Hmm....
Time of the year doesn't matter there are rude people everywhere all year long. Connie and I were shopping and a demonstration lady asked us if we'd like to see what she was demonstraiting. (something new from Clorox) We responded we didn't have time. She said something about "Not having time to keep a clean house" or something to that effect. As we walked away I asked Connie if we should let her get away with that.
I don't believe the lady had a job there 20 minuets later. Connie not only let her have it but got her bosses phone number from her called the number and also talked to a store manager. Rude people suc and deserve what they get.

Last night Norma had about $250 worth of stuff in her basket and the slacker-a$$ kid working the register refused to do a price check when something scanned at the regular, not sale price. She asked him twice and then told him to shove the whole order up his butt and walked out, with the kid yelling, "Lady, you can't do that"

In my younger days when I had a very bad temper and very little patience, a customer once told me "The customer is always right." I told her "Most of the time the customers don't know what the hell they're talking about." And I didn't get fired.
exactly. working in the shop, there are plenty of stories from this side of the counter: people who say they were in a few days (really months) ago; don't know what they want other than it has a red and white label; or feel that just because we have chairs, it's the staff's job to entertain them for 3 hours of meaningless blather.

The last job I had was with a Goodyear tire shop, and our store had a in-store credit program. On the FIRST day of the job a man walked in, I greeted he, and he started jumping my case. He claimed that last month when he made his payment, "I" screwed something up. I proceded to try to tell him differently but he cut me off saying it was me. Finaly I got a word in and said this was my first day, and couldn't have done anything last month. He then demanded the manager, who had to explain that this was indeed my first day. He never said an apology or that he was sorry.
This is just one of a million I could tell. And I'm sure so could EVERYONE else who has delt with the public for any lenght of time. Now when I'm in a store and hear a customer get irate for no reason, I make comments about how stupid some people are. Then I tell the worker that there should be a law where as they could cary a ball bat for just such a case.

HEY WAYNE, NASCAR SEASON IS COMING UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had many jobs - including sales and not once was I ever rude to anyone... even if I wasn't having the best of days. Why take it out on strangers... yet it seems more and more places I go lately I get poor attitudes... unfriendly faces and people who could care less to help... BUT they always seem to be easier to remember so I try harder to remembe the friendly smiles and the sales people who went out of there way to help me... bc they are still out there!
On the other end... I think the rudest customer (not mine but I was behind her in line at Walgreens photo in Boca Raton) - She was actually so rude it was funny bc she was yelling at the clerk because he ruined her son's first bthday party pictures..... he was too young and scared to tell her - but when I peeped over and saw that whoever TOOK the pictures cut off the kids head in every one -I was quick to tell her she was yelling at the wrong person. I actually had to explain to her that Walgreen's can only develop what get's captured within the frame.... classic
Sometimes rude and dumb go hand in hand!!!
Just be sure to recognize the good salespeople this season!!! It's like that commercial where somebody does a nice thing - someone else sees that and does something nice and it comes full circle.. I LOVE that commercial!!!!!!

I think that is a great commercial, too. Now quick, name the product that commercial is selling.
I'm suprised you found enough there to spend that much money. Most of those places just seem to stock crap, and a lot of it. It always looks like the place is going out of business! Maybe that's the deal...the worker can't wait to get to his next job.
If there is no God I've lost nothing
If there is a God and you don't believe in Him,
You've lost everythiing!!!

4 ROLLS OF TAPE
2 CANDLES
2 BOXES OF CARDS FOR MOTHER
3 BOXES SILVER BALLS FOR MOTHER
1 PKS ORNIMANT HANGERS
1 POCKET SIZED NOTEBOOK FOR MR. TOP'S OSU BETS
1 LOAF OF BREAD (NOT OUTDATED)
It was my first time in the store... and even without the nasty cashier, I doubt its some place I would frequent. They really just saved me from having to go to WAL-MART and fight the crowd.

another example of "not only is the customer not always right, sometimes they need to be asked to leave the store"
