Definitely do New Orleans. Phreddyphishstick is the local expert on Bat Tawn Rouge....however he may me missing in action right now. I was there this past year for a game, but my plans were too helter skelter. Phreddy (Stephen) provided me with a great tailgate there. He had suggested staying at the LaQuinta On College Ave but It was already sold out. College Ave. is the apparent hot spot for bars/rest./etc. I did not experience that because I was coming off a night in the French Quarter and didn't have the giddy up for back to back burnersreed69 wrote:Hey guys planning a trip for next year to watch my hokies play the LSU Tigers and i am trying to get some informatin about the baton rouge area. i want to book hotel and flight early , Does anyone know the best areas to stay in ? I can do la quinta , i have actually stayed at one of those before , but i am preferably lookign for a marriott as i have copious amounts of marriott points to burn (thanks to the job). Probably just gonna do like a late thursday night or early friday til late sunday eveing or early monday morning type long weekend. Im gonna def take a look at college avenue and see if i can get something booked there before it gets sold out, i know how the hokies and those tigers travel, last time in blacksburg was a crazy scene!!

Looks like Marriot is right there in the College Dr. area so you're all set there.
Did you do New Orleans when Va Tech was in the Sugar?? If not, you gotta check it out!
We flew into NOLA Thursday, stayed in the French Quarter Thursday night and stayed at the Hotel St.Marie (reccommend/inexpensive..$69 or $79/great location) and burned it up there Thursday night. Headed over to B.R. Friday afternoon for the Sat. night game and stayed Fri.& Sat. night in Port Allen across the river from B.R.
If I had to do it again I'd do NOLA Thursday & Friday night and make the drive to B.R. early Sat. morning if indeed it's a night game and spend the night there.

Oh yeah i was there when tech played auburn , that was a great trip , we went down for new years eve and stayed through the day after the game IWe stayed at the drury inn its on whatever bourbon street becomes on the other side of canal. so basically we were like a block from bourbon street and the rest of the french quarter. THat place was all hokies up until the nigt before the game , then quite a few auburn fans showed up. BUt i would love to do that again , just havent made up my mind how many days to go to nola. Is it there a fun party scene in the Baton Rouge/ collge drive area?
