He was unforgettable in the role, and it set a tone for so many of his later character roles.
also... I had heard somewhere that his last character's name,
Frank Barone, was a sly reference to his Young Frankenstein fame

The 1st time i saw Everybody Loves Raymond was on a flight to Florida......it was the episode where he caught a football(field goal)...he didn't want to return the ball......he was hilarious and i was hooked to the show from that day!!!.....sail on you will be missed!!

Yeah that was cool. It was a Hofstra football. I loved all the Long Island references on that show. It was cool that they picked Lybrook as the town the Barones would live in. That's where I live. Many laughs over the years. He'll be missed but live on in syndication for years to come.

One of his more underrated performances, if you ask me, and a pretty underrated film. Murray is brilliant in it as well, but Boyle hit the role on the head.
Such a kind, warm man. Another legend we've lost this year. Seems like they're coming too fast these days...
