Someone tell me WHY???

Post by thebeachbumm33 »

Why does Applebees have a need to give balloons to the keets??? I just spent the last 25 minutes in my car driving from A.C. with my 3 yr old wailing because I threw the balloons in the trunk so I could see out the rear window. What's worst is the next morning they are just about out of air so I have to wake before him and get rid of them before he remembers getting them. On top of that, what about all the kids that lose their balloons before they get to the car, those balloons end up floating three or four blocks and bam right into the the Atlantic where dolphin, whales, and turtles swallow them and end up dieing  I guess that's enough of this rant :o

It's an evil plot just to drive parents crazy, and hope they keep the kids quiet.

Don't even need a word to tell you: $$$

They are hoping that the kids will enjoy the balloons so much that they HAVE to go to Applebees next time instead of TGI Fridays because they get the balloons at Applebees, and not Fridays. Thus more returning customers=more $$$.

What Applebees failed to look over were secondary consequences such as annoyed parents who just say no next time because the balloons are so annoying, not mention they are a hazard driving (there's a lawsuit waiting to happen). MGG does have a point that all the Little Johnnys and Little Susies who accidentally let go and the balloons become litter somewhere else. Of course Applebees wouldn't care about this because it is insignificant to the bigwigs at Applebees who solely care about the almighty $.

Whatever happened to the days of coloring books and activities on the placemat?

While we're at it, can we get rid of the practice of letting balloons go at funerals/memorial services for the same ecological impact mentioned above?

Hate to say it, but just the other day I was at TGIF and there ya go, BALLOONS. I have to thank god that my kids hate the things unless they are filled with water and are flinging them at each other....next time you go to Applebees, ask for the ones that are already filled with water and they will go away.

Really? I see it all the time on the news, especially when it involves young people. Thankfully it's never happened at a funeral I've attended, although I try not to go to too many to begin with.

It often happens at school related events too...drives me nuts. :-?

Last "young person" funeral I attended was in the middle of winter, I'm thinking balloons wouldn't be too popular in the wind and cold.

I used to read about classroom projects where they would attach the school address to lots of balloons and see who found the one that went the furthest. Haven't seen that lately, I know Mrs. Chip never did that project.

And they also overlooked the fact that DINKs like my husband and I would go drink several expensive drinks each and eat mediocre food at any number of other fast casual restaurants that don't cater to kids.

I'm a mean mommy. We don't do balloons, normally, because they pose such a choking hazard. Of course, we don't usually go out in public because my son is the devil's minion.

speaking of balloons, at my son's birthday party we tied about 20 of them to my fishing rod and let them go so high you could barely see them and then reeled them back in.
Always wanted to do that and yes I'm easily entertained
Of course afterwards we cut them loose and let them all go.
