I am a fan of the Banana Wind Instrumental. I swear that I heard it on my honeymoon when we stayed at the Atlantis in the Bahamas. I believe they played it as background music throughout the hotel.

That is a good song, surprised nobody else has mentioned it till now.
Trying to think of another Buffett instrumental....

OK, I'm here...figured since the thread was partly because of me I'd better get in here. I'm thankful we're to page 3, since 2 was such a scratch to get through.
I can't believe I didn't see this song anywhere....I had to go check to be sure it was on this album, and it is:
Only Time Will Tell (Jimmy Buffett/Roger Guth/Russ Kunkel/Peter Mayer/Jim Mayer)
Personally, this is one of my favorites across the board. It's a great song to start off the day with, great to put first on the party playlist, first to kick off a show with.
and to go back to page 2, just a bit, one of the things that I've always wondered about is the people (no one in particular) that complain about Jimmy being too much country and not enough 'down-island'....and in the next breath they say they don't like DSTC

It's fine if you don't care for it, maybe it's thought of as a group of Showtunes, I don't know? But I would think it pretty obvious that I really like the album.
thanks

It isn't a "Buffett" instrumental because he didn't write it, but how about Eanna's Socatash from when Nicky Yarling was in the band?

that would make it a cover....wait....if it is an intrumental he didn't sing it, does that mean he didn't perform it, just play it and then it isn't a cover after all....OMG I'm so confused

I used my hubby's car yesterday and BW was the only Bubba I had stashed in there. And, I admit, my first thought was "what's on here anyway?" Like most of you my favorites are SBH and False Echoes. I love Holiday too, though. All in all, a very listenable album.
And, on the other subject, not many of the other artists (okay none of the other artists) who write ALL their own music have been atop both NYTimes best-seller lists, and have chains of restaurants and stores, and blah, blah, blah. The man's gotta sleep sometime.

Banana Wind is Buffett COVERING himself minus the singing which in theory makes it an instrumental but is basically a song without lyrics or a vocal performance that doesn't require singing to the tune of a melody that sounds like Jimmy Buffett wrote it but is perhaps Jimmy Buffett imitating Jimmy Buffett sounding like Jimmy Buffett so that means it's a Jimmy Buffett cover performed by Jimmy Buffett...
Just want to clear up the confusion as to who performed and played...the original cover of...the melody of the...instru....MENTAL.
