JB #2 most requested Events for 2006

Post by LesPaul30 »

He's #2 most requested "event", but #1 for Concerts.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicked, the Broadway
musical and theatrical tour was the top "Most Requested Event" in 2006
according to Ticketmaster, the world's leading ticketing company. Following
closely behind on the chart ranked by online page views, information requests,
and ticket sales from 1/1/06 to 12/13/06 were Jimmy Buffett and Tim McGraw and
Faith Hill's Soul2Soul II Tour.

Jimmy Buffett and McGraw/Hill's tour were also the top two "Most Requested
Concerts" of 2006, followed by Dave Matthews Band and the Cheetah Girls
ranking at #3 and #4 respectively. Wicked also ranked as the #1 "Most
Requested Arts and Theatre Event" followed by IL Divo, Mary Poppins, and Blue
Man Group. The New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, and New York Yankees were
Ticketmaster's "Most Requested Sporting Events" in 2006. And Disney On Ice
followed by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and the Wiggles were the year's "Most Requested Family
Attractions."

"It's wonderful to see every category of live entertainment represented
among the year's most requested events," said Ticketmaster President, Sean
Moriarty. "Fans have never had a greater opportunity to choose from such a

clearly like what they see."

No problem...actually that makes more sense because I heard it was about the "bad witches" and if one is done in during the Wizard of Oz, that would have only left one...I couldn't figure that part out....not to be too anal or anything....

Actually it's about the relationship between Glinda the good witch and Elphaba (the Green witch) when they were young girls in school. The show is an offshoot of the book by the same name which was kind of a fun read.
I've never seen the show but friends who have say it was amazing

Once you see Wicked you will never view the Wizard of Oz the same way. It is a very good show. I'm still surprised that it ranked higher then all of the concert tours since it is playing in a relatively small theater (under 2000 seats per show) in NYC.

But there are touring companies, and it is also playing in Chicago on an open run and doing very well.

Aren't there usually 8 shows per week running pretty much year-round at these theaters?

Monday's are dark and you have two shows on Saturday, so I think that it is 7 shows a week unless they do two on Sunday as well. At 1700 seats per show that is a lot of bodies spread over the year. Also I just found out that it is playing in London, Chicago and Los Angeles so I guess there might a bit more demand.

Most Broadway shows have matinees on Wednesday.
