If they have digital cameras, pick up an extra memory card. Always nice to have a spare or two, and they've gotten pretty inexpensive this year. I picked up a couple 1 MB cards for about $15.

Magazine subscriptions about topics of interest for them might work, too.

we are currently on a mom will kill you for drinking kick here. In another few days the bulk of the college kids will be home for break so it should be interesting how this plays out.

Girl: a basic tool kit, either assembled by you or one of the 'pre-made' ones in a girly pink container.

Boy: stationery (including stamps) for when it absolutely/positively has to be snail-mail. (If you want to get a birthday card this year, buy one yourself and include it.)

Johnson's Caramel Popcorn makes a great stocking stuffer :D Back in the day when I was in college :o nothing brought a smile to my face like opening a envelope bulging with Franklin's  actually it still warms my heart.

excellent idea... my dad got me two... one to keep in the house (not in the girly pink container) and one for the car (it also has emergency type stuff with it).

they have been used a lot over the years....

i've used the one for the house all the time... the hammer, screwdrivers, pliers... my daddy taught me how to use all of those so I wouldn't have to depend on some boy to fix things for me...

the car one... never had to use that stuff for emergencies, unless opening beer bottles count... 8)

When I was in college, my Mom gave me a calendar that she had written all of the family birthdays on....I still use it every year to transfer them to the new calendar (the original calendar was 1981!!). Now that my Mom is gone, it's truly a treasure!

mr oc already got the tool kits, don't go there with the rubbers, gotta love living with two 19yo's. Love the calendar idea, I'm going to do that. I will probably go to Chic-fil-a and get their ridiculous cow calendar with gc's on it. Ooh I think i'll get daughter a gc for a car detailing if it's not too much. And she loves Weird Al, and Monty Python. Maybe the Spamalot cd. Gonna get a magazine script too, that sounds good.
