Satellite Radio - Boombox question

Post by bravedave »

I have satellite radio in the car (Sirius through an XACT plug&play receiver). It has the usual external satellite antenna on the roof.

If I buy the boombox that fits my receiver, and take it in the house to listen to satellite radio, how do I set up an antenna to receive the signal? On the roof?

you might not need a boombox for home play. if your home stereo has an AUX button and can handle the hookups for your receiver all you will need is a home antenna.

I have the same receiver as you do and we hooked ours up through the home stereo and have the antenna in the corner of the window in the computer room. I am a cheapskate and didn't want to spend the 100 bucks for the box. Good luck getting it to work.

The boombox has it's own antenna on it. Ours can be left on the box or taken off to move around for better reception. The most we have had to do with ours is stick the antenna out a door or window, or just move it close to a door or window.

That is how ours is set up also. Our antenna is just set up on top of the tv hutch.

We actually do have 2 boomboxes/portable dock sets- one for work and one for whatever. We got the SUPER cheap on e-bay, you just have to watch for the deals- like one was a $150 unit that we got for maybe $25 + shipping.

Actually, I got one yesterday as my present to me.

Listened to the concert with it and was very pleased.

I have the little no frills visor unit and this boombox was clearenced out

from $120.00 to $80.00. Batteries go behind both speakers for use away

from power.

Thanks, everybody.
I think the boombox will get a lot of use outdoors, but when I bring it in the house, I'll just park it near a window to position the antenna for good reception.
(Thanks for not telling me to climb up on the roof!)

ps - the boombox was a steal at $70 under list price, and it should be delivered on Tuesday.
