I dimly remember doing that, though not at a tailgate dear :)
Okay, it wasn't at a tailgate, but it was during MOTM and Mike couldn't help but get a kick out of how many people you offered it to, everyone who walked up to us that night got an offering (even an older couple, I mean quite old), I hope they knew what they were getting into!!
it was just tequila.. and I have my generous side. :D

Who cares who sponsors the tours...If you like Corona, drimk it. I don't like it so I don't. I usually drink Mich Ultra or Miller Light. If JB doesn't get sponsorship from either of those, I'm not going? Yeah right. As far as all of you who have invested in the Corona tailgate decorations and stuff...do you now need Land Shark stuff? Most of Corona's Parrot related stuff still fits the scene doesn't it? I think I will miss the Corona sponsorship mainly because I'm willing to bet that A-B won't do JB justice in the same way. I may be wrong..we'll see.

Corona is owned by a corporation in Rochester NY, who just last fall purchased Vincor and now controls a 3rd of the booze produced in North America. When I remember the name I will post it....

As for LandShark, it is gonna be 3.2 % right, in Canadian Standards, American beer is light beer and Mexican Beer is Extra Light Beer and Landshark at 3.2 % whats the point of drinking something lighter than corona?

Canadian beer starts at 5.5 % who is gonna drink 3.2%? I still think water is cheaper than beer and at 3.2%, I would stay with the water!

Maybe he will infuse it with some of his extasy and call it comsic landshark!

As for beer elitists!!! That is funny!!! That is like saying North American Cars are better than German cars, it just can be true.

This now explains a big part of the $30 increase in pavilion ticket prices this past year...they wanted to test the waters to see if they could maintain margins without the Corona $$s. We bought, so they've said "thanks for the fun, Corona" and will now go forward without any external sponsorship.

It'll be interesting to see if there are any other visible changes to what or how things are done now that it's all under JB's direct control.

I don't drink either beer nor will I drink that crappy tequila called Margaritaville so this just doesn't bother me or affect me in the least.

Had my first taste of JB's new beer and I give it a thumbs up...not just because it was a Buffett beer...it really wasn't bad.

A mexican kind of flavor but nothing like Corona.

Friend of mine got a promo six pack at a bar he manages and her grabbed 2 for us...drank it over the holidays and would drink it again.

Give it a try...

The only A-B brand that would "fit" is Landshark Lager...and if it's only distributed in FL and at the M'ville Cafes it doesn't make much sense for A-B to sponsor a nationwide tour (unless they're trying to create brand awareness, but that would still be expensive and wierd with such extremely limited product availability -- which generally isn't done in consumer product marketing). A-B can only feature LS Lager because directly associating another brand with Buffett would shoot the LS Lager brand in the foot.

Also, they may be looking at FL as a LS Lager test market and plan broader distribution down the road (especially now that Corona has bowed out of the Buffett sponsorship)...but launching a national brand requires a huge investment. Buffett/Margaritaville is a niche brand and broader market appeal would need to be created to justify the expense and sustain the brand. (An important lesson should have been learned from the "Hoot" marketing...the trailer that included "featuring new music by Jimmy Buffett" didn't exactly drive the masses to the box office....) Beer is an expensive product to distribute...bulky; Corona is strongly "entrenched" in the escape lifestyle segment (so a big advertising investment would be required to create consumer awareness and persuade people to try it -- much less gain shelf space so it's available). And, FL wouldn't really be a true test market because it's a place where people go to escape -- it's more Buffett-oriented than any other state so it would be a poor predictor of long-term nationwide or even regional brand success.

And of course, as A-B owns 49% of Corona, why would they want to directly take on their own investment? Sure, LS Lager is 100% theirs (I'm sure Buffett will get a piece) but product launches aren't cheap....

It'll be interesting to see how much A-B invests in LS Lager and if JB is part of advertising the brand. E.g. will it be an "escape" brand or a "Buffett" brand? Put another way, will we see Jimmy/Margaritaville featured in ads or will it be some other "escape" image? (Corona already owns palm trees and beaches...will we see talking Landsharks like those Budweiser frogs and lizards? And what does a landshark look like, anyway??)

Finally, be careful what you wish for...if LS Lager does become a tour sponsor, you can bet an awful lot of tour tickets will be swallowed by anyone who supports, markets, distributes, and helps to launch this new brand (making even fewer available for the rest of us). If things get too focused on this new product, JB may not even need to play the A-B company picnic....

Jimmy does nothing for "free" if Corona is out someone will be in, probably the A-B family. When I started going to shows in the 70's Miller Lite was the sponsor. While I wouldn't drink that on a bet, I don't recall any complaints that it "didn't fit"

That's my original point  ...we made up the difference by paying an extra $30 per pavilion ticket.

Love the landshark, Topless!

yeah, thought that was funny when I asked it too... If he really did kick tickets up 33% last year to keep his margin solid without a sponsor, I don't feel so bad about not contributing to his birthday book. My 6 tickets this year probably kept him from starving..

Hey, I call 'em as I see 'em. Let's just hope the loss of the Corona sponsorship was factored in to last year's prices.... :-?
