Watching the funeral now!!!!!

Gracious and Loving God,

We ask that you be with the Ford family on this day. We pray for your peace and grace to be upon them, especially upon Betty in this difficult hour. We hold and stand upon the promise that this life is not the end and that death is simply a transition. Our hope is that through the life, death, and resurrection of your Son that we all will be reconciled and renewed in your glory and we will live forever in peace and love. All this we ask in the name of that Son. Jesus Christ, Amen.

do they normally shut down mail delivery for this kind of thing? I heard there would be no mail delivered today due to the funeral/respect.

I just don't remember this in the past but hell it's not like too many have passed in my lifetime either.

It will happen whenever the next president passes away also.

You noticed because you're getting old.

I noticed because I either got a day off from school (Kennedy, Hoover, & Eisenhower), or was a federal employee. (All the others).

no it was actually because I needed to mail something and my wife said no mail today

I agree, SGH. The whole Ford memorial has been a first class act. I missed the service this morning, but hope to catch it on C-Span tonight.

I'm sitting here watching the funeral on Fox News (a fairly liberal media outlet, but they're okay), and as badly as I feel over the loss of President Ford, I'm feeling pretty good watching all the dignataries arriving at Andrews A.F.B. in stretch limos and S.U.V.s.
It's nice to see some things are as they should be.

Garry: I was thinking the same thing this week-end while watching the ceremonies. They were familiar and they were good and they made me feel like *some* things never change, which was comforting to this ole' girl.

Yes, you're right, E.T.P.-I know there are environmentalist kooks running loose who feel otherwise, but a vice president, secretary of defense, secretary of state, et. al., riding around in a darn YUGO just doesn't do it for me.
