Getting serious about Sirius

Post by Tiki Bar »

:wink: :lol: That was fun to say!

Anyway, in the clearance section of my local Sam's Club, I found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Xact-VISOR-XTR3-Sir ... dZViewItem

It's an "XACT Visor" car and home kit for Sirius... and it was $25.

* plug-and-play SIRIUS satellite radio WITH ROTATING DISPLAY
* one-line, 16-character, scrolling display shows channel name and number, song title, or artist information
* wireless FM transmitter broadcasts the sound over unused FM frequency (87.7 MHz to 107.9 MHz)
* wireless remote
* mounting bracket offers four installation options: on the dash, on the windshield, on an optional vehicle mount, and on your sun visor

Package includes:

* Xact Visor XTR3 Receiver
* Remote
* Vehicle mount
* Vehicle Antenna
* Home Antenna
* Home Stand
* 12v Vehicle adapter
* Audio Cable
* AC adapter

Is this a good deal? Does anyone know if it works well? How much is Sirius per month?

Thanks in advance! :D

Well, it's a discontinued model, so that is why it is only $25. I wouldn't say it is a bad model, I have never had any experience with it, I just know that Sirius doesnt produce them anymore as part of their first line of radios. Sirius is $12.95 a month but if you pay yearly they knock off a month, or pay 2 years and they knock off 3 months, or pay a one time fee of $499.99 and never pay again. it's all right here http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentSe ... 0907696769&

Very good deal for the unit...My .02 is that I hate the FM transmitter, if you go on long trips you have to continously change the channel. I prefer some sort of direct connect to the radio. If you primarily use it locally then the FM transmitter should be fine. Good luck.

Interestingly... the same FM station worked from here to Atlanta... :)

When we went to MOTM... it stopped working in Key Largo.... I tried for 20 minutes....every FM channel and none worked.... :(

I just need to go digging on the web site to see what other stations are available when I travel....

It's a fabulous deal for an out-of-production model, plus you're getting a home kit, free. I paid $50 for just the XACT Visor for the car and an additional $60 for the boombox home kit.

True. This may be the only drawback of this type of satellite receiver.

I have that exact kit from Sam's. Very good buy indeed. When I got mine in July it was 79.99 still a good deal at the time. The only complaint was I have is mounting it in the car was a bit of a challenge but I think it was more my car than the receiver.

Programming is 12.95 per month for the 1st receiver and 6.95 a month if you add a 2nd. Activation is 15.00 and sometimes they charge you for it and sometimes they don't, I had to pay it.

If you didn't get it by all means go back and do so if the sat. radio thing is the way you want to go.

Have you tried removing your car antenna?

Thank you everyone! :D

I got it, and will try to figure it out over the long weekend! There are still about 10 of them on the shelf today too!

Merry Christmas to me! :D :D

I have that exact one and have had it for over a year, it still works great. I wanted to get the better model (Sportster) but because of space in my truck I had to go with the Visor. The newer ones are better with more features but the Visor works just as good and is more compact.
