Depends on when you are going.
What is your budget?
How long you're staying?
Do you wanna stay on the Strip, or Downtown?
This might help.

There are soooo many places to stay - this site is really good at running down the info on rooms, shows, free stuff, and shopping.

The site that Penny is recommending is a great site.
We were just there in Nov. and had a great time.
If you are staying at a hotel that is part of the
MGM group you can get into the VIP area for the
Sirens show at TI.
If you can, try and go up the Eifel Tower and watch
the Bellagio fountain show from up top. It is a great view.

We stayed at MGM for the Buffett concert last October and we didn't care for it that much, too big and impersonal. My brother stayed across the street at Hooters Hotel/Casino and we really liked it that's where we will stay next time. The people were friendly and not so big and overwhelming, plus have a great band out by the pool.

When we went to Buffett in Vegas, October, 2005, we stayed at what is now the Hooters Casino as well. It was under construction at the time so I wasn't too impressed. However, you're close to the strip and not selling your first born to do so.BrianM wrote:We stayed at MGM for the Buffett concert last October and we didn't care for it that much, too big and impersonal. Wander through the Bellagio, it's beautiful.
If you want an AMAZING meal, go to Commander's Palace. It's expensive, but the food and service were just out of this world. David was our waiter- he was so funny, at the beginning of the meal he was so prim, and could read our style well enough to be very friendly and was talking baseball (he was coming over with the WS score) by then end of the meal.
And the food- I may need a few minutes by myself just thinking of it!! I think we spent about $300 with tip and a bottle of wine.

The last time i was in Vegas for the JB show in 2005 we went to the RIO for the seafood buffet!!!! It was a little crowded but worth it!!!!!
Even if you do not go for the buffet the Rio's decore is worth going to see!!! and the Carnival parade!!!! they put it on several times a day!

"While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats." Mark TwainSince you are staying at the Luxor, you will be on the far end of the strip. If you don't have a car, get a tram pass for 3 days, the closest stop is at the MGM. I think it is $40 for a 3-day pass. Taxis will add up quickly. $10 to Bally's (which is the approx 1/2 way point on the strip. The tram runs the length of the strip. Wear good walking shoes. If you have a car it is ok too, free parking everywhere except some garages around freemont street. If driving ride the strip once at night and then learn the back streets. Strip is the slowest method of getting anywhere.
Three nights isn't much and you have mentioned a couple good attractions already. Freemont Street is good in the evening. Lake Mead - do the d*m tour. Pay for the hard hat tour it is worth it. Behind the Sahara GM has a great drive thing that for $10 you can take a couple of laps in a vette, caddy or SUV off road course. It was kinda fun and the caddy was a better ride than the vette. The Stratosphere has some great thrill rides and a view at the top. They took the roller coaster off, but there are three neat rides up there - if you have the stomach for it. If you golf, head out to Paiute, beautiful golf course in the middle of the desert. You don't have a lot of time, but there are helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon. There are tigers in the MGM. Flamingo Hilton has some nice gardens, skip the shark experience at the Mantolay. Venitian has some great shops and restraunts. The blue man group is not at the venetian. It is a lot of fun if you have never seen it. Price is Right is at Bally's. Wife enjoyed it, had some friends win some stuff. The pyramid cafe at the Luxor is a great place for breakfast/brunch each morning. (The luxor is where we usually stay) Get a tower room not a pyramid room. the Main Street Station Hotel and Casino has a piece of the Berlin wall in the men's room. I have seen the wall elsewhere but my next trip I will probably go there so I can urinate in that symbol of failed communism.
If you are gambling, sign up for the frequent player cards at each casino. They will give you free playing credits and gifts. Even if you don't gamble a lot, you will get some free play to start. The Luxor card room is pretty weak. Excalubur is better, MGM is another fav of my addict friends. Go north for the best poker tournaments. Sahara and stratosphere has some good tournies. If you like tables, I like the smaller cheaper spots. Sahara and Barbary coast have some of the friendlist dealers. The Tuscany (offstrip) is another that I have enjoyed.

Or go to Commander's for lunch. They have an $18.80 lunch special (Commander's opened in 1880 in NOLA.) The menu variesCoconuts wrote:Wander through the Bellagio, it's beautiful.

daily. There's also a $29.00 special. Soup or salad and an entree and dessert. At lunch martinis are 25 cents (limit 4) and these are the regular $8.00 martinis, not some cheap ones. I had turtle soup with sherry, pecan encrusted catfish and a bread pudding souffle with whiskey sauce. And a couple of very good (and potent) martinis. All for under $30. I was stuffed (and happily buzzed).
The Bellagio is incredible. It was decorated for Christmas and was amazing. Had dinner at the Prime Room there which was very, very nice (and very expensive) but luckily somebody else picked up the tab.
The Wynn had a great buffet (lots of seafood and excellent desserts).
