Great post...always wanted to see what this place looked like before the fire...and hope one day to visit the place...Thanks for all the great info.

On another note...I was given all my grandparent’s slides from their many trips to the Caribbean from the 40's through 70's and noticed many from St. Barts...need to go through them...wonder if there might be some pics of this place….I’ll let you know…

The discovery of the old Autour pictures certainly was a great way to end 2006. I started searching for them as soon as I returned from the Caribbean in February and it took me until now to find them. If we Parrotheads had a way of paying a debt of gratitude to somebody who helped us in our endeavors, Jhonno, GregB, and everyone at www.stbartstalk.com would be in line for it.

I've emailed the St. Barth's newspaper and the bartender from the Autour du Rocher hoping to find out all I can about the place. If I find anything further, I'll be sure to let you know.

Happy New Year Pholks!!!

A friend took four photos of Gustavia harbor today and the fourth photo down has somewhere within it JB's SBH villa in St Barths. I am not going to be more specific, so don't even ask. This is a great forum of JB fans, and we all know that JB deserves his privacy while on vacation.

Conched...

Thanks for the correction...too much holiday cheer, I guess.

Anybody interested in the island life Mr. Buffett has led and is currently leading in St. Barts should check out this site. It makes me want to catch a plane tomorrow!

And why am I posting at damn near midnight on New Year's Eve????

Because I'm eating microwave mac and cheese and playing Lego's PS2 Star Wars with my kid, that's why!!!

Safe travels, all. And may 2007 be as kind to you as 2006 was to me.

We did the climb to Autour last week, and it hasn't changed much from the after fire pics.
Signs on site that something new is planned since we saw signs of recent land surveys of the area. Someones cleaned up the overgrowth a little.

We did the "rock around the rock" thing and then checked out the cracks in the floorboars to see if we really could see hell.... I won't tell you what we saw.

BTW, not a very safe place to walk around.

Oh, and here's a tip, Go to the album cover for "Take the Weather with You" and look thru the fingers of JB's left hand.

Some of these pcitures are amazing. Thanks! It really looks like a special place. Gustavia looks more crowded than I thought it would be but beautiful nonetheless. All the yachts remind me of Nantucket Harbor.

Mac . . . you are always welcome. I will be sipping wine and watching me some sunsets (after sailing and scuba diving and before getting lost in the magical St. Barth's nights) . . . if that doesn't bore you - please attend.

Oh yeah . . . Her.

She will be coming down a few days after me with her friends. I am getting there early for a 2 day fishing trip with my crew. She is more of a hair and nails kind of girl - - - thank goodness she respects my nomadic need for adventure.

From someone who frequents St. Barts regularly, I hope the administrators of this site remove the pictures of Jimmy's villa..it is too specific and one would have no trouble finding his home....Please.

fairly certain it is almost common knowledge . . . small island, popular rock star = 0 privacy. I agree that such pictures shouldn't be posted; but it is not like people wouldn't be able to find him. I think Jimmy Buffett knew and calculated the risks when he purchased the villa.

Didn't Jimmy actually show the Villa exterior in his video for "Knees Of My Heart"?

On a side note (just an example) everyone on Nantucket knows the rich and famous who own homes here and they do not try to hide it. Bill Bellichick, New England Patriots head coach, owns a nice house out here and plenty of people visit the beach near it for that reason. There are only so many measures one can take.
