I heard something on the Mets' game last night I had never heard an announcer say before. Orlando Hernandez got a single through the hole into right field. As the ball went through the hole, Dan Uggla dove for it but he had about as much chance of getting to it as I did sitting on my couch on Long Island. When they showed the replay, the Mets' play-by-play guy Gary Cohen said "Dan Uggla with the false hustle diving for that ball. He wasn't within 10 feet of it." Although I have to wonder if he would have said anything if it was one of the Mets instead.

Well, I just lost $10.00.
Before I logged onto here, I made a bet with a friend that there'd be no mention of the YANKEES win last night.

Me too. 10 homers in April has been accomplished several times in the past.
CaptainP wrote:If he DID go to 74 HR this year, he'd be at 538 for his career AT THE AGE OF 32!!!
It won't happen. He'll get to 500 homers, but probably not until 2008 or '09.
CaptainP wrote:Even if Bonds does get to 756, he's just borrowing the record...
AMEN!
Some sportscaster guy on one of those off-the-wall fly-by-night sports stations was interviewine WILLIE MAYS last summer, and introduced him by saying "THIS MAN IS 3rd ON THE ALL-TIME H.R. LIST-4th IF YOU COUNT BARRY BONDS."

Disagree. He started this year at 464. He only needs to get to 36 to reach 500. With his fast start, it'd take an injury to keep him from making it.

Is wasn't a 5 run HR against the Red Sox in September or October in the bottom of the 9th to win the game.

Can someone explain a 5 run HR? I know the AL cheats the true intention of baseball with the DH. Did the AL figure out a way for bonus runs too?

Oh, conventional baseball wisdom- since A Rod's performance this year is SO FAR AHEAD of last year, he MUST be juiced

We're just saying that this is the expectation of A-Rod by Yankees fans in every at-bat...

Me either...What I said above was purely tongue-in-cheek.

I have noticed lately that Jeter and Rodriguez have been "getting along" better.

I think that's MORE B.S. overplayed by the media, who apparentlly has been having TOO many slow news days.
Of course, you know how fickle some "fans" can be.

Well, they actually do look like teammates and enjoy playing together.

WAY overplayed by the media-and too many people buy into it.
At least "Slo-Mo" is giving them something to b|tch about.
