dp, I must admit I'm a huge fan of Robbie Cano, but I never fathomed a way for him to hit twice in the lineup

oh, and Igawa is done in pinstripes. He gave us no reason to believe he could get past the 5th inning this year. They'd be better off going out and getting a cheap veteran to plug the end of the rotation.

Yankees talking to A-Rod again?
A couple of reports surfaced on Wednesday suggesting that there was a possibility A-Rod might return to the Yankees after all. From Tyler Kepner of the New York Times: "A person close to the Yankees said this morning that Rodriguez, through an intermediary, told the Yankees that he wants to talk with the team about a new contract agreement without the involvement of his agent, Scott Boras. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no deal has been reached. When Rodriguez opted out of his contract during Game 4 of the World Series, on Oct. 28, the Yankees insisted they would not chase him as a free agent. Club officials were bothered that Rodriguez did not return their calls and refused to meet with them in person." Citing "a source with knowledge of the situation," the New York Daily News reported that the two sides have been discussing a deal over the last few days. However, according to the Daily News the only catch is that the Yankees don't want A-Rod's agent -- Scott Boras -- involved in the negotiations. More from the Daily News report: "A high-ranking Yankees source told the Daily News that the team is willing to bring Rodriguez back on a below-market contract, one that would make up for the $21 million subsidy from the Rangers that the Yanks lost when A-Rod opted out of the final three years of his contract. In addition, the Yankees don't want to deal with Boras, who has been Rodriguez's agent since the slugger was 16 years old. 'We will not negotiate with Scott Boras,' a Yankees source said. 'He cannot be in the room.' The Yankees are also aware that Boras could convince Rodriguez to stop the talks. If the Yankees are in discussions, then it would lead one to believe that the price is going way down on A-Rod. Then again, the way the Yankees are spending money on Posada and Rivera, I'm not all that surprised.

If it's true the Yankees don't want to negotiate with his agent, I wonder if the players' union will file a grievance? They complain about everything else.

Let both of them file grievances. The Yankees don't have to negociate with either of them at all. It seems the yankees are staying "your agent is a schmuck and we won't deal with him, your options are get a new agent or come in without him. If you don't like those terms, then I hear the Marlins are looking for a couple of good players."

Not often an obit makes me smile, but this photo in the local paper caught my eye yesterday. I think the only thing cooler than having your dad on a baseball card might be having your mom on one.



They had a front page article about Lorraine (Fisher) Stevens today.

I love how A-Rod came begging back to the Yankees.....and for less money than anticipated!!.....do you think he sign so quickly do to he is one of the 11 players(Free agents) named on the Mitchell report???...just throwing that out!!....and do you think Boras is pi$$ed???

I would probably say yes to both, however, in terms of the Mitchell report, was it free agents like A-Rod that opted out or regular free agents that are at the end of their current contract?

Also, I think this sets a precedent that is not good for any agent, not just Boras. Now all teams can say, we won't negotiate if an agent is present. There is no law, that I know of, that says that teams have to negotiate with agents.
